Re: Shared Map

I agree with both of you. I just DL wattro's v4. Gonna have a look. I liked his last version as well. So the two areas put together I am sure will be really nice.

Gonna have a look at v4. Get back on that later today or tomorrow.

Have a great weekend guys. Talk to ya in a bit. :)

Re: Shared Map

and i haven't been anywhere to be seen nor have i dont an iota of work on anything related to this ptm in the last week. i'm not sure what the status of anything is, but i am certainly preoccupied in real life and i think it will be that way for a while. i had hoped we would move a bit faster . I h...

Re: Shared Map

No fussing in q3w ctf ptm! Q3 "as well as" Q4 was just an idea. Nothing final. The idea was to complete this project and map in Q3 and then consider maybe if it is popular enough making a Q4 version release some time later. Now moving on. I been busy like many of us with RL stuff. I still ...

Re: Shared Map

@goth- Thanks for the input :) I can see real potential in a map like this as far as atmophere goes in Q4. I don't have Q4, but don't let that stop anyone! Actually me either at this time. I bought Q4; played the single player portion and beat the game. I then put it to the side. Later I somehow kno...

Re: Shared Map

Any of you guys think it might be an interesting idea to put this CTF PTM out in q3 and q4 formats? Or would the Q4 format not see much play?
Seems like we could do the cave effect better in Q4 if we ultimately decide to keep that type of terraine in the map.

Just wondering. :P

Re: Shared Map

@Silicone_Milk: Thanks man. I am still not completely over it. I still have a rough cough and a lot of rattling in my lungs, but it will clear out and I do feel a lot better. :) @wattro: Yea all of the issues were really just lack of texture and shader or needed adjustment of shader stuff. Other tha...

Re: Shared Map

Sorry about being away for a while. Had a little stay in the Hospital. Got really sick with a nasty bacterial infection in my lungs. Anyway about the map. A few friends and I played it Via LAN at my house so ping and lag were not a problem. The map plays very nicely. Fast paced and we all liked to a...

Re: Shared Map

i know the second version doesn't match the original intended theme but i also don't think that should hold anything back. with this version, i see a tech base > rock middleground theme as a possibility (like a military environmental research and engineering station). Actually that brings up a good...

Re: Shared Map

I really like the layout wattro. The JPs and LPs could use some aiming and half the watter trap in the middle ground looks right from above, but you just drop to the floor and are stuck unless you walk over to where the water is in the other half then swim up...lol. It would be a great gothic or old...

Re: Shared Map

@wattro: No I don't think the base is too big. There don't seem to be any corridors that are too long. The midfeild is just right in size. I like the green water better. Distance between the bases seems OK to me though play seemed a bit slow. Also it is about 2000 units longer than my last version a...

Re: Shared Map

Looks very attractive wattro! I like this a lot. I have to go to work right now, but I will DL it when I get home and have a run throught it. I haven't used IRC in years either, but it sounds like fun and a help towards our efficency. I will drop in sometime after work as well. Have a good...

Re: Shared Map

Looks very cool.

Aww I like symetry in a CTF. :tear: Although I have noticed over the years too much symetry makes defending too easy. >:)
As long as the two halvs (blue side and red side) are mirrored then the rest is cool. :sly:

Can't wait to give it a test play.

Re: Shared Map

@a13n: This was not really intended for you. Most of you have been popping in at least every two or three days with contributions and feedback. The team started out with 4 of us and has grown to 6 with obsidian and wattro because they were really there helping all along anyway. There are obviosly ot...

Re: Shared Map

Ok I reworked a13n's regen room to get rid of the areas that wee just not being used. It still feels a bit bla if you know what I mean. I just had a hard time coming up with something nicer for the back of the room. Not feeling too creative at the moment. I adjusted the weights on a few botroams to ...

Re: Shared Map

Wow nice. The dimness and lava light gives it an awesome ambiant. Play is big fun without that studder as well. I will check out those tuts you mentioned. I could still stand to toy with bot use of the map. I think it would be cool to place a few torch/wall lamps and play with item placement and pos...

Re: Shared Map

Sweet. That for the info. Always nice to learn something and get better. I understood that part of the point in detail was to clean up planes and thus areas and splits and such. i was also under the understanding that this is also what Hint brushes were for. Helping to encompas areas that had l...

Yea. I would love to learn how to make skies and ground shadows like in kineterra1. That was such an awesome map.

Perhaps I should start doing some research. :sly:

Re: The Map Queue at ..::LvL

It has been a long time and I can't remember. Was it LVL that was really critical of pretty much all maps that weren't really flashy and looked pretty, but often functioned like crap? Other than ones that were created by long time buddies of theirs and the super elderly ultra old school famous mappe...

Re: Shared Map

i'm not sure why you are turning shaders/funcs/triggers into structural. Sorry didn't mean to cause a misunderstanding. I was under the impression that brushes start out as structural and it is up to the mapper to decide to make some or all detail. My bad. I never actually "made" any brus...
