The Map Queue at ..::LvL

Post by v1l3 »

Hey..

I went over to ..::LvL and there are some new reviews up, so I went into the queue to see if any new ones have been submitted and none for the mostpart. There are two maps in the queue. That site has been up for what like 7 years or so? ...and I've never seen that--Ouch!
Over time I've collected alot of maps from the mappers that have been around for quite some time, and that still hang here, and also from many other mappers that don't anymore. Many of you have submitted one or multiple maps, yet there are many maps that have been made that are great ones, yet were never submitted...for whatever reason.
So..I have a request,
If any of you would consider looking through your maps and possibly find one(or more)of your maps that you would find worthy of submitting and submit it...take that into consideration.
Maybe this seems like I'm having a silly idea, but I've had many thoughts of writing certain mappers over time that are far from gone now, and asking them to send in certain ones they have made..as I'm sure there are alot of players that would like that certain map that they've made or not. I'd find it to be an amazement if they even had their e-mail addy open anymore.

This request may seem like a whining, begging, cry...but what the hell? Why not? I figure if map submitting is going to die out quickly...I'd like to see one final explosion before it does!! Plus it'll give me some good maps to review. Think on it..or, make more maps :shrug: :D

@3v1l
Thanks for your notification.
Granted there are only 2 maps in the queue, if we submit maps right now, they are most likely to be reviewed soon.

It has been a long time and I can't remember. Was it LVL that was really critical of pretty much all maps that weren't really flashy and looked pretty, but often functioned like crap? Other than ones that were created by long time buddies of theirs and the super elderly ultra old school famous mappers. They got pretty much good reviews of anything they made no matter if it sucked or not.

It may not have been LVL, but I remember people getting sick of this kind of stuff from one of the popular review and hosting sites.

If it was LVL then perhaps this is the result of the poor decisions on what mappers to praise and what ones to crush. :shrug:
Uh, well....good luck with that. :shrug:

LvL has had many reviewers, some good, some nubs but no, I don't think I'd ever see LvL as that Magnus. Tig's a good guy so I'd imagine you're thinking of something else or someone had a bad experience and mislabeled the site.

OK so what review site was it that everyone complained about like I described above? I can't remember what one it was and now I am racking my brain trying to remember...Gerrr...lol.

:olo: You have to be kidding! Someone done this and actually submitted it? That is priceless.

Oh don't get me wrong. Like I said I can't remember what the site was. It wasn't a problem with one person mislabeling what ever site it was because it was a very popular topic at the forums for quite a while. It seemed like everyone was bitching about this issue atthis site. I just can't remember what the site was....heh :dork:

Anyway are any of the other review sites doing well or are they all kinda barren?

Also anyone have any idea of what site it was we were all bitching about? I would love to remember.
Uh, well....good luck with that. :shrug:

I don't think lvl is a bad review site.
It's not commercial but just social. :up:
On top of that isn't there always a possibility that one person's tresure can be another peroson's junk? :!:

It's quite a possibility that someone could have complained about some review or many reviews that have been given at ..::LvL on whatever forum...who knows? Considering that ..::LvL pretty much dominates all sites having to do with map releases on Q3....since it has like 2000 some reviews or so.
With the whole bad comment or bad review dealie, it's a free for all to anyone who can give a decent review, minded that Tig gives them a look over before popping them up. Comments are a completely open ended, where you have the possibility of getting some ass wad that makes some stupid ass remark that really didn't need to be made, and then some other person get's into an argument over what they set an then you get 20 people arguing. Sometimes it gets humorous, and other times it gets way out of hand and it pisses off the mapper or a bunch of other people that really like the map. Some of the peoples remarks are right, and some don't know what the hell their talking about.

Every mapper that puts their map up there knows that it's all chance of whether they get a good review or not, or whether their going to have good remarks or whether they are going to even get remarks. Most of them just don't give a flying fuck, and just want to see how many downloads their map is going to get...which I figure is the best thing about the whole thing to begin with.
I personally have nearly done more reviews there then anybody...as some other guys just as myself, which I can't remember their names off hand=/ I've had some people hate my reviews, I've had people criticise me for bringing all of the promode mappers into to site and giving them nice reviews. On and Off, it was fun and un-fun, I've always looked at it as a way of promoting maps that I really like, and I think other people would like them also.

If you have a good map the highest draw for downloads is slightly over 750 downloads...they don't all come over night...but pile up in like up to around four months or a lil more. So if you'd like to have that many people play your maps than :D if not than :disgust:

Reading through the comments is another reason I love to visit lvl.
It's fun to read comments by some funny people, such as rrroooaaarrr. (But we can't find him anymore, he must be very busy in real life.)

LvL is a great site for both mappers and people looking for maps. There's tons of maps over there with reviews, comments, screenshots and hassle-free downloads. Stop desperately trying to remember why someone wouldn't like it, get your stuff up there!
