One notable difference this year due to some bad blood caused by Bethesda suing Oculus:

Yeah, I was on the Oculus page last night and noticed that official engines supported include Unity, Unreal Engine 4 and UDK. No id Tech engines.

How much is a company like id worth without the people who made it? I'd argue that the talent is more important than the IP in circumstances like this.

Apparently Carmack left because Zenimax were unwilling to work with VR and gave Carmack the option of working on their projects or leaving, so no surprise :(

And now they want money off the nerd for IPs they wanted nothing to do with :dork:

Wouldn't have known Quakecon was already upon us but for this place. Took me by surprise as I was looking forward to it next month (it traditionally takes place first week of August) so I wonder why they made it so early this time.

Already at semi final stage of quakecon. Cypher just knocked out Evil in the first semi. Tox about to duel Dahang in the second semi final.

Rapha apparently got knocked out earlier by Tox.

Stream here if anyone's interested. Kicking off again in 25 minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/quakecon

Willits is horrible at giving a keynote, and that was one douchey move.

I still haven't played in yonks, so I hope they haven't added any pay-to-do-whatever shite or i'm out before i'm even in again.
When's the last time you played QL? That "browser based bollocks" has been gone for quite some time now. It's a native desktop client now.
