John Paul was overrated IMO

Post by Cool Blue »

Since his death, millions upon millions of people are suddenly jumping on the bandwagon in sorrow for the old fella, which not undue. Through all of this though, I have been hearing and reading about the speeches and quotes people are making about the Pope and how great he was due to all he accomplished being a major opponent of communism.

Kudos to him for his fight against communism. Really.

But what about the blind eye he took to his pedophilic subordinates? This 'great man' condoned the molestation and rape of probably millions of young boys around the world by not holding those guilty accountable for their actions.

Even after one of his OWN cardinals was accused of raping some young boys, he simply had him transferred to another location, keeping with their policy of not holding a clergy accountable, but simply moving the pedophile priest to another church.

So should the man be considered one of histories great? Is he worth all the praise and admiration of the world over for defeating communism, but ignoring the atrocious crimes happening before his very eyes?

I find it a complete paradox to praise him for his courageous 'use' of power against communism, yet he did nothing to fight the corruption and crime within his own organization.

HE the protector of people. HE the leader of the flock. HE the loving embodyment of God. Stood by as many a priest put many a cock, in many a small boys bum. :tear:

I really don't know what to think... but what I can say for certain, is that I'm getting REALLY tired of leaders commiting pure acts of evil (or not stopping it when it's within their power), under the cause of a greater good. Gee... that sounds an awful lot like another leader that's been in the press a lot the last few years....

people mourn because he was the pope, not because of his great deeds (well to a degree)

We're debating his 'praise', not the issue of people mourning him.

Blair and the archbish are taking time out to go to his funeral, the faggots. They're supposed to be defenders of the C of E, as far as they're concerned the Pope's supposed to be the antichrist.

But credit where credit's due, the Dalai Lama hates gays too, and no-one's taken a pop at him

If you think thats bad wait until they start calling for his sainthood.
And then trying to find three miracles which are needed to qualify as being a saint.

Actually he wasn't a great man. Being the Pope is more about politics than religion, which to be honest are both completely fucked anyway.

Most catholic priests like giving boys a swift one up the arse and the Pope knows this and simply moved the ones that were caught to another church.

Also for someone so religious and I am assuming such a believer in the afterlife and Heaven, he really did hold on for as long as he could didn't he? At the end of the day, he didn't want to fucking die, because he knew there was fuck all waiting for him

How come he wasnt put on a life support machine, a week after saying that life should be always extended by them when possible (Terri Schiavo).

He's going to Hell anyway for the profound shafting he's given to family planning, sex education and female empowerment in the world's poorest countries. Retrovirus-tastic.

The Pope is now a genius-hero-saint because he's croaked and everyone wants to say something good about him. I admire him most for his role in helping bring down communism, and that's about it. Most everything else he advocates is terribly unhelpful for humanity.

True, but I don't recall any of the Dalai Lama's priests being accused of raping young boys. :smirk:

And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et fili, et spiritus sancti.
