Will PAL games on an NTSC console/TV set show up distorted?

Post by KingManULTRA »

I know U.S. NTSC console games played on European PAL consoles will show up black and white.

Is the same true the other way around? Is there a cheap way to make say PAL PS2 games work on a US PS2?

well you could use a mod chip or possibly an emulator but there are no good ps2 emulators out there yet.

With a mod chip both versions should work in colour.

I'm not using a true modchip tho'. It's the Swap Magic 3 "softmod".

It goes NTSC TV -> PAL Console -> PAL Game,
are you sure it can also go
NTSC TV -> NTSC Console -> PAL Game?

i've played PAL psx games on a chipped NTSC psx + NTSC TV; it is fucked up.
you have rip an image of the game, patch the image, burn it, and play the "fixed" burn in order to get the vertical hold and colors to be ok.
it will be fucked up if you just stick a PAL game in an NTSC console on an NTSC TV.
the other way to fix it is the way we did: we hooked the psx to an old commadore monitor we had laying around using the RGB inputs.

as far as the import patches go... go here -> http://www.consolecopyworld.com/
for more information etc...
