It all comes down to price I spose, if the DVD was released the same time as it was aired would you pay the 25 quid ?, or would you spend 25quid to get the subscription to watch it all anyway + other shows. Stupid question asking what you would do but it doesn't really represent value for money.

It's why I feel that pay per view is wrong in its current state, 15 quid to watch one boxing match is a right rip off.

True. The trouble with it though is that in a pay-per-view model, the price for each view is usually so high that with 2 or 3 views you're at the same price as a month's worth of Netflix. For example: renting movies through Xbox will cost you $10 for a single, HD view of a movie. Netflix costs me roughly $8 a month.

On the other hand, I'm a MotoGP fan and last season, the only way for me to see it was to get a Sport1 subscription for €10 a month. I didn't do it because I think it's too expensive for 45 minutes of bi-weekly entertainment. If I could buy a watch-a-race-online-ticket for like $1,50 or $2,00 or so, I would do it, for each and every race. Eurosport's having MotoGP this year again so at least I'll be able to catch some MotoGP action in-between all the commercial breaks this season.

Same goes for HBO and their subscription for Game of Thrones (nevermind that HBO is wholly unavailable in my area).

The trick with subscriptions is that whatever I'm paying the subscription for should offer enough that's of interest to me to warrant me getting a subscription. Both Spotify and Netflix do that, so I don't mind spending $10 and $8 on them respectively each month.

Yeah, Netflix is the only service I pay for any more; I even stopped paying the license fee and registered with them as not watching live broadcast telly (which I don't).

Netflix almost gets it right, but not everything I want to watch is available, and the artificial delay between cinema release to Netflix is still undesirable. I know that's out of their control, but still, this is where the pirates offer a better service.

Aye.

I am a shithead when it comes to piracy but if I had a decent legitimate alternative I'd use it. My piracy of games went from everything to almost nothing as soon as Steam got their shit together. I still do it, only with games I just wanna try though.

TV / Movies need to find an alternative, along with sorting their release dates out and imo piracy is a good thing because it stops people from getting fucked in the arse and is forcing the industry in the right direction.

I was one of the fools that pre-ordered Watch Dogs, but that doesn't justify pirating other games. I just know never to trust Ubisoft and EA, why take it out on other devs?

I don't, they get my money if they earned it. Total War is a great example, bought a good portion of their games since Medieval 1 but Rome 2 was broken, absolutely fucked and it still is. That's not my fault, the same way they hyped up Watch Dogs into something it isn't. There's a ton more too, like anything by EA or Ubisoft, Codemasters or Paradox games can be very hit and miss then there's the ARMA engine that is a cobbled mess. This is without getting much into playing the game as like a demo to see if it's something you want to play as opposed to something you'll boot up and leave gather digital dust, like the C&C series after RA2, Manhunt, Saints Row, the newer F1 games or Grid 2+.

I've also purchased games that I wouldn't have looked at before, like Kerbal, Galactic Civilisations, Dead Space, Company of Heroes, Xcom, Batmans and Fallout 3 / NV.
