Oh well, at least they're doing NFS rather than regular EA. EA did Hot Pursuit and High Stakes.. which added almost nothing to the series :icon19:. Not to mention the fact that Hot Pursuit and High Stakes used the same engines used in NFS 1 and 2. They were too lazy apparently to make a new engine, so they just slapped a couple of effects on top of EA Canada's NFS 1 engine. It was nice that Canada got control over the series once again when they made Porsche Unleashed though... which is why the game kicked so much ass compared to HP and HS.

I know Canada is making Most Wanted, but I don't know about who made the others. Probably Canada, but eh, I don't like their new style.

werd... PU was the last good NFS game.
oh and NFS1 and NFS2 were developed by Pioneer Productions, and only published by EA.
which is why the games take a wicked left turn and were completely different when NFS 3 (HP) came out. by that point IIRC Pioneer had been assimilated into the collective and NFS was just another name on the EA bottom line.

man, i can't believe TNFS came out in 1995, damn that game was light years ahead of any other racing game... and managed to pull playable frame rate on a 486 in software render no-less.
/me has a memory relaps to fond times spent tearing around rusty springs in a 512TR, or blasting down City1 in the diablo...

They should really have stopped calling these games need for speed a long ass time ago and just used the name after the colon.
"The need for speed: hot pursuit 2" is a hell of a wordy title when "hot pursuit 2" would have worked just as well.

oh, and while i'm rambling about weird ass need for speed games... wtf happened to Motor City? did that ever get made?
sounded like a novel idea.

I've really enjoyed all the underground series, there's really no other game that you can play that allows you to modify the look of your car so much. I know there's a few out now but NFSU was pretty much one of the first good ones wasn't it?

I thought the second installment giving you the whole city as a playground was awosome too so so far I've really been pleased with their games.

Even the racing itself is really awsome too the effects when using nitro are great and the speed you race at is very fast. I honestly don't get where you guys think NFSU and NFSU2 are bad games.

every single car handles exactly the same.
at no point in reality should a heavily modified civic be as fast as an equally modified RX7, supra etc...
(case in point... i beat NFSu2 from start to finish with a focus)
speaking of that, a drifting competition should be entirely impossible to win with a front wheel drive car.
the nitro blur crap-effect you speak of is simply fast and the furious nonsense.
so far GT4 hass the only pleasing application of N20 i've seen in a game (although i hate that Gt4 has giggle gas at all... but i digress) nitrous just gives your car a bit more horsepower... it does not turn a 2.0L 4cyl into an afterburning jet engine.

the bare bones of its suckyness boils down to this: the game is cheesey, entirely removed from reality, repetitive and alltogether just plain bad.

its one of those games i decided to beat just out of spite, and I felt like giving it a fair shake... rather than make a harsh judgement about it being pure trash after only playing the first level.

Sorry I disagree completely.

A: a civic does not compare to a Skyline in terms of performance with the same performance mods on the car. I know this for a fact because I actualy played the game and in no fucking circumstance will anyone ever beat me in a civic if I don't have an accident and neither does the other guy, no matter how good he is, the skyline is just faster, along with pretty much every other car.

B: it is possible to mod even a normal civic or other car to pretty high HP capabilities. I've seen a modded Tiburon 4 cylinder beta engine with 400hp. (beta is the name of their 4 cylinder engines not that it's a beta...)

So the idea that it's impossible is wrong, you can get good HP out of a 4 banger and the reason they made it that way is for playability too. In case of drifts yeah, I somewhat agree but I'll also say that it's WAY easier to win a drift race in a RWD car than a FWD car and I can get higher scores with a RWD car so again the physics are there.

As for repetetive.... I mean cmon it's a fucking racing game exactly what part of a racing game isn't repetetive? :smirk:

What the hell is FR?

I dunno I've seen that before and haven't figured it out yet, I'm assuming it means four wheel drive in the sense that AWD cars aren't the same cause an AWD car doesn't have the option to go to 2 wheels... I think. Not sure.

the suprising part is The skyline GTR, with the ATTESSA + Hicas system weights in at ~3500KG's

wile the 350Z with a simple FR layout weights in at 1474kg's...

the skyline kicking its ass is nothing short of amazing. :)

I used to love skylines, but I've since come to realise that they are specifically designed for men with small cocks. That's a fact.

The Skyline GT-R is ONLY AWD. The Skyline GT is actually what's called FM for Front Midship and yes it's RWD.

are you trying to crack a joke Dark? nissan hasent made the R series chassis's in a Mid shipped setup..

infact, they havent made ANY MR based cars.
Fact: I work for Nissan
Fact: The G35 (Nissan Skyline GT in Japan) uses a design that's called Front Midship, the engine is is the front, however the majority of it is located behind the front Axle, giving the car a more even balance.

Fact: I said nothing about the GT-R being on the FM platform.
