pretty retarded discussion. China destroyes Japan, with or without nukes.

The USA could destroy China if nukes didnt exist. But since they do, the entire world would be destroyed in all out nuclear war.

the US's military technology is way superior to China's. What the hell is a whole bunch of footsoldiers going to do in a modern war? dig trenches and wait for the USA to bomb them? or pack them on navy ships to attack the USA and see how many yards they can get off the chinese coast before they're blown up?
all of china's hard targets: tanks, military bases, planes, ships, etc would be wiped out in weeks without a single US soldier touching chinese soil. Their only defense would quickly fall to hiding among civilians like the iraqis/viet cong. But if this is total war (minus nukes) we could just destroy the cities too.

Japan is light years away from china's nuclear capabilities. With their population condensed in tightly packed cities of a pretty small set of islands, china could completely engulf japan with nukes before they even think about making their own arsenal.

so you think a row about some school text books is going to cause a full on nuclear strike in the near future?

right now, they have US bases, i would imagine US would be a little pissed if their bases got nuked.

if the bases were not there, i wouldnt be a case of the US waking up one morning and leaving, it would take years - more than enough time for a country with such financial resources to buy some nukes from somewhere like pakistan.

we are talking theoretical here. In vietnam, we could have simply nuked that entire pos country if we wanted to. But the nature of fighting a non discrete enemy that does cheap shots and then hides within the civilian population is a nearly impossible task for anyone.

and to bring up the arguement the US's bases in japan brings this out of the hypothetical realm of a pure 1vs1 fight of china and japan. Then you can simply argue that there would never even be a war between the china and japan and there's nothing to really discuss.
