I ain't gettin' no speeding tickets
I got it from a co-worker. Luckily they bought it back since I didn't think it was working right.Dr_Watson wrote:get it off ebay or something?bitWISE wrote:I used a Passport 8500 for a month and it was fucking worthless. It would go off for no reason at all but if I actually drove past a cop it would be silent. One time I honked my horn and it thought it was laser.
Unfortunately my common sense failed me a few times and I have 6 points on my license. So now I absolutely cannot break any motor vehicle laws within the next 11 months or I lose my license for 6 months.
thats a defective unit or defective electrical system in your car.
mine (and the few other people I know that have one) is flawless and accurate for miles.
the only time mine doesn't pick up cops is if they don't have their radar on. (the accuracy is also reduced if you do something stupid like mount it behind the windshield wiper, radar doesn't penetrate metal)

Yeah, it's too damn expensive, and my wife is pissed, but it's cheaper by far than a single fat ticket.

Because they're a bunch of pro-Bush reactionary asshats. I got banned for a single sentence in the Off-Topic forum. There was this retarded GO USA! IRAQ R TERRORISTS! thread wherein this guy had posted this incredibly stupid story about a father using some dumbshit analogy to explain the Iraq war to his son. All I posted was "Gee, what a load of crap." and I got banned. A guy that quoted my post and agreed with me got banned, too.dnoyc wrote:hey NS why did you get banned from the R1-forum?

I own a 2005 Yamaha R1 and I don't exactly have shitloads of spare cash lying around to afford track days. Yet.Who wrote:and what bike do u own?? btw keep ur speeding habits for the track not the roads only way to stop u getting a ticket.Nightshade wrote:Because I just ordered this:

edit: By the way, learn how to type. Only AOL retards and Geoof type "u" and "ur" instead of "you" and "your".

When I took Driver's Ed in high school, we watched a bunch of stupid videos and spent an entire semester learning a bunch of largely useless bullshit. The road practice was really just enough to get you used to controlling the car and getting used to traffic. IIRC, it wasn't very critically graded, and of course we never did anything like learning how to control a skid or brake properly in reduced traction conditions. Seeing as I grew up in Vermont, you'd think they'd want to implement something like this.PhoeniX wrote:Is that the stuff you do pre-test, like the highway code etc?
It's probably a bit overkill here to be honest.. when i did it (but its got harder now) you had to take a test on the highway code / rules of the road etc and get 30/35 to pass. Straight after you take a hazard perception test where you are shown videos of driving scenes, and you have to click where you see a danger or something you should be cautious over (like a junction in the road). You have to get around 60/70 points on that to pass. If you fail either of those tests you have to re-take them both. (Their both computerised)
Then you have the test where you are allowed 15 minor marks (such as putting an indicator on too late, using bad gear selections etc) and no seirous marks (doing several of the same minor marks, not using mirrors enough etc),
Whilst on the test you have like 40 minutes to drive around a town/city and do various things, such as parrallel parks, reversing around corners, emergency stops, turning in the road, parking in car parks, roundabouts and just general driving.
It really is quite bad. I heard the German test is even worse.
edit: but then, it does actually work because 99% of the bad drivers I see (who pull out in front of you without looking, or drive about 1m from your bumper) are pretty old, and who obviously took the old style tests.
They should also use something like the cops do when you get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt. It's this seat on a rail that slides to an abrupt stop. You ride it once with a belt and once without. You almost get tossed off it without the belt.
Anyway, it may just be an American thing. I see too many self-absorbed douchebags going way too fast while doing everything BUT driving. I've actually seen people READING THE FUCKING PAPER while driving to work in the morning.

Sounds pretty shitty then. You aren't able to do skid-pans here until your 21, it's all part of 'advanced driving' where you have to talk your way through the driver too; like "I'm driving along aroad, 1 car in front, 2 behind, theirs 3 children on the left side of the road and theirs a junction in around 40 meters."
Now, I think that should be open to anybody with a license, especially though who have just passed, just for the knowing how to propperly take skids. I guess thats why so many people use thier own skid pans inside large carparks at night

the trick is to catch them as they turn it on for traffic ahead of you. If you're all alone on a road, then-yes you're fucked. Laser detectors are basically off until they get a bead on a moving object.FragaGeddon wrote:Is that detector legal in your state?
What they sometimes do is wait for you to get close enough and they turn on their radar gun. Then your fucked.

you have to have driven for a year as well as being over 21 - i'm 29 (y'know, nearly dead), only took my test last year and have to wait a few more months before doing the advanced course.PhoeniX wrote:Sounds pretty shitty then. - Kracus thinks NS is an asshole on the internet.Kracus wrote:No I'm just saying, I like ya, you're alright, but you're an asshole. Nothin personal, it's just a personality thing you got. Ever notice people don't like you? I'm talking real life though not on the internet, that doesn't count cause that's all bullshit.
- Kracus reminds NS that people don't like him in real life.
- Kracus has never met NS in real life.
- Kracus states that the Internet has nothing to do with real life.
=> Kracus fails on all levels.
