Elimination of nurses will leave Buffalo students without medical services... "

I agree its sad I just don't understand why people can't see what they are doing when they keep refusing levies and taxes for our schools.

Look on the birght side Mr. Bush probably has a wonderful plan in the works. You know like the one he has worked up for our retirement fund.

Americans seem to prefer to spend more money on Chinese electronics and cheap Wal mart products and buy Arab oil rather than spend it on their own health so I don't think they'll care.

i just think its amazing that the government is run by pro-life religious crazies that are so into saving unborn children but apparently once you're out of the womb and in elementary school you're fucked... until you're 18, then you can go kill arabs.

But then you go to the Arab country and get your ass kicked because they are run by religious crazies who actually teach you to hate and kill Americans as part of the curriculum.
LOL you're fucked no matter what.

Savor that extra $300 you got this year. As a matter of fact, frame it and hang it on your wall. That way 5 years from now you can remember how happy you were to get it, when we're in a huge recession and it's worth enough to buy you a couple of meals.

And you can remember it when you're still working at 75 to pay for your medical expenses, wondering what happened to retiring at 60.

Savor that $300. It was worth it. :icon14:

It's the exact opposite here; we need more nurses and doctors.

Looks like more of a local/state issue. Perhaps you should rail on your local and state governments for their ineffective way they run their government.

How can some communities make it work while others, such as your example, suck at it?

When you radically change the amount of money states get for certain programs and tell the states to deal with it, you are going to have problems when the state has already budgeted that money and counted on it to be there.

Maybe some states are doing better than others, but none of them are doing great. Most are having serious economic issues, and have been for the past 2 years. It may be their fault what programs they decide to cut to offset their deficits, but it's not their fault that they suddenly don't have the money they were counting on to be there.

I used to think that was a good idea. Now it scares the hell out of me.

I think it would create an even bigger and more dramatic class division in the country. People not being able to afford primary school for their kids is not something I like the sound of.

The public school system is broken. Plain and simple. I'd like to say that poor people would benefit from privitatization because of charity, but I'm not so sure. Regardless, something needs to be done. Let's start by getting rid of teacher unions, or at least implement pay for performance instead of standard pay for every year of service.

Probably when the "fiscally responsible" republicans reduced the money available for anyone who isnt' 1) a millionaire 2) involved with the military, 3) part of their constituency, or 4) flagrantly patriotic.

I guess the only good I can see coming from this is that when the jobless rate skyrockets again and the US markets take another plunge maybe, just maybe Bush supporters will see that obnoxious tax cuts, poor spending, and bonerified wars actually aren't good for the economy.

But I doubt it. Back to the main issue, though, I'm surprised those nurses aren't in unions. Or are most school nurses not?

Teachers (primary/secondary) are not trained or treated as professionals in the US, which is of course half the problem.

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."
sounds like he's highly egimakated.

edit:... a funnier spin on this story is that its in kentucky.... when you drive into kentucky, you see their "welcome to kentucky! where education pays" sign. irony++ :icon26:
