Wanted: Nunuk
Wanted: Nunuk
Hello there!
Does someone know a valid email adress to Nunuk (a Q3A Mapper). His old address nunuk@planetquake.com is not valid any longer.
I would like to contact him to get permission to convert some of his Q3A maps to Elite Force.
Thanks!

I doesn't call himself Nunuk anymore, he uses his artistic name sparth instead. Try http://www.planetquake.com/nunuk for news. I know he works somewhere.

Overall interesting times...
Since id is "finally" working on a new IP, one does wonder if that will fall short or be a success. And what role new talent at id will play. Somehow I don't see id as an innovator (gameplay-wise) that would knock me out of my socks. But you can bet I'll buy the game
I am probably jaded, but I had the feeling nothing in Q4 or D3 had that mandatory addictiveness - from the very first moment the games were out - compared with Q3A. Back then I played every Play Test / Beta Demo etc... and loved it. Possibly as it now turns out because 2 of the 3 maps, dm7 and dm17 are now classics.
Somehow I have the feeling id is losing it? Possibly it's more an industry problem, were too many AAA titles are splattered all over the place, but players don't have the extra time to actually appreciate them.
On my current list: Prey, Sin Episodes, HL2 Episode One, Fear, but also Toca Race Driver 3, Test Drive Unlimited, ... but with all the mapping, who has the time to play those?
I have played all the better Shooters in the past 8-10 years - amounts to about 80 games / mission packs etc. Well... and mapping happened only for Duke 3D, Quake II, Half-Life, Quake III Arena, Far Cry and now Quake IV. Not many games out of 80.

I think id working on new IP can only be a good thing, They have stagnated on DOOM and Quake for 13 years now. What they need is a shot in the arm with new ideas and direction. They dominated the FPS scene for so many years and now it's time for something different. I look forward to it in every way. They were on top in the FPS field and now it's time for something else.
I think in general the FPS genre is pretty stagnated. I really haven't played any FPS games lately that were all that creative or different than the others. Just finished FEAR for example, and while it was interesting, most of the game reminded me a lot of Splinter Cell mixed with Doom3 and Hitman. It did have a pretty "big" ending though... not to reveal any spoilers to AEon.
I'd really be interested in seeing some sort of Myst/Riven style FPS game, where you have free reign to run around in the world, explore and solve puzzles. Oh, and shoot the odd imp or two to keep things from being too peaceful and quiet.
