If they come up with a MacBook that has a socket so you could upgrade the processor, I'd definitely be in. I dunno if they'll do it, I think the mac mini has a socket. Don't think the macBook has enough room, though.

and a BIG price diff there
No, actually not that big, around $500 in my case, but for that I'd get a lighter, slimmer and slicker laptop with a better screen and the ability to dual boot OS X and Win XP. I'd say it's worth it

If Apple didn't do it themselves, someone else would. This is a much cleaner and nicer solution that everyone benefits from.
Has anyone here had experience with the two models of intel macbook?
I'm strongly considering the lower spec model, but I'm just not sure what I would be missing out on with the next spec up.
It seems a have a bit more storage capacity, slightly faster processor, more graphics ram... but otherwise nothing truly 'extra', just bumped a little.
Or am I missing something? eBuyer won't give me full specs for the 2Ghz model

It's just bumped a little. Otherwise its the same model. I'd wait though, as they're going to release the "MacBook" soon, and possibly update the "MacBook Pro" line with a 17" revision. There'll just be more options to choose from.
