DVD compatability question
DVD compatability question
So, my parents rented Flight Plan with jodie foster ( not a good movie btw ). However it wouldn't play in their player, so they took it back for another copy of it, still wouldn't load. Both dvds were free of scratches and smudges.
I'm thinking it's the player. It's a first generation dvd player from toshiba, i think my dad bought it in 98 or 99. This is only the second time this has happened, how is it possible that a small seclect few dvds are unplayable?
It has all the options, including progressive scan, etc.
Edit: In the end, i loaded it up on my ps2 and it played perfectly

ps2s dvd playback is not as smooth as a standalone player though

you get what you pay for video quality-wise with a low end player.BlueGene wrote:DVD players are so cheap now, I've seen some for like $50-60 and the newer ones have xvid/divx support. In my experience Philips & LG makes pretty good ones.
actually there's nothing not "smooth" about it. it's got horrible black level issues and renders a bit grainy in tests.MKJ wrote:actually, that only holds true for the first revision ps2sChupacabra wrote:im not sure but there are heaps of discs that the ps2 cannot play
