Pain Killer = best game ever.

I kinda hated it at first, but then I gave it a second try, this time multiplayer. It was so awesome with the built in bright skins and the jumping and stuff, I love it even though I get my ass kicked.

It's ok, but it can't stand up to the quality of id Software's games. I just got a Sound Blaster X-Fi card, and playing through Doom 3 and Quake 4 has never been this good. I'm not sure if you heard, but Quake 4 is fully optimized to take advantage of the breakthrough audio technologies of Sound Blaster X-Fi.

Sound Blaster X-Fi utilizes EAX advanced HD 5.0 to run multiple reverbs at the same time. The Quake 4 environment is mapped for different reverbs, and has complete support of occlusion effects. Additionally, X-RAM, a great new feature in Sound Blaster X-Fi series, is fully supported by Quake 4, and continuously used through out the game. Gaming audio can be decoded and stored within X-Ram for faster access. Finally, the best feature of Sound Blaster X-Fi series is the Open AL support, which is fully utilized the Sound Blaster X-Fi's superior hardware acceleration. Before the Sound Blaster X-Fi, I had an onboard audio solution with no Open AL support. I was forced to use the CPU for all of the audio effects processing which wasted precious CPU cycles... CPU cycles that I could have been using to frag a squib with :icon1:

I really can't believe there are people out there who don't get to experience Quake 4 the way it was meant to be played... with Sound Blaster X-Fi. Sound Blaster X-Fi, I sold my kidney for it.

Eh, I did have Quake 4 but it didn't run well on my computer so I sold it to my friend... and with the money I bought master levels for doom 2 and Quake 1.

Nice ad Doomer, you work in marketing or someone feed you that line? :icon26:

Seriously though, is the difference between Audigy 2 OpenAL and X-FI OpenAL that amazing?

Using X-Fi also now. It's insane. Better sound quality for music than my old M-Audio Revolution 7.1, and in games and movies (with multichannel sound) the surround sound I hear in my headphones is wicked.

woah people still use their onboard sound?

It's a massive sound quality upgrade if you go from nforce3 realtek ac97 to sound blaster 16.
