I work at gamecrazy, we don't take big ps2s with the serial numbers from the early days, I've tried fixing some my own, those fuckers fell apart like no other, leads coming loose, drives generically slowing down, one working (but had freezing problems) had no working fans in it...Jackal wrote:Average lifespan of the PS2 is six months? Bullshit. Show me concrete numbers and stop spouting your oppinion as "fact".
Best Buys will be getting 360s on the 3rd apparently...

The 360 is capable of 2% less than the PS3, but the difference will be nothing like last time because they are so the same.
The 360 only over heats when its cramped up in a corner with the PSU. Try covering all the airflow in your PC and see what happens.
The 360 only scratches disks when you knock it while on. FACT. Same as, well, the old xbox and the Fat PS2. Its the cd rom drive, and stupid kids to blame.
The 360 launch "faulty" percentage is VERY low, under 3%. Unlike the PS2, which had over 30% faulty at launch.
M$ has said on several times now that the PS3 will be a struggle and that they look forward to seeing what comes of it, and that the revolution looks amazing. Meanwhile, Sony have said that nintendo need to grow up and see how wrong they are, and that M$ should never of even bothered, full stop. Nice hey?
Thats why i hate Sony so much when it comes to consoles, they are just so up their own arses, and lie through their teeth man...
And I specifically remember reading an interview with some PS3 developers talking about how they are really enjoying the 360 and that they think it's a great machine.
I read J.Alard or whatever hes called from M$, talking with whathisfaceototo from Ninty, and they got along great. M$ said the pad and the new direction just may be the way forward, but its a rish so they never took it. Sony however, say that they are both retarded, in as much words, heh.
If anything, they are BOTH just a PC in a box. But what i mean is, the xbox was capable of more graphicly last time, so the jump in graphics from "PS2 exclusive" to "xbox exclusive" was quite large. This time, you wont even notice the difference, they will both have the same feature set.primaltheory wrote:right on buddy, not to mention that the ps3 is basically a PC, they have next to nothing in the way of archectureo'dium wrote:Oh yeah, and just to set things right, the DS outsold the PSP 4 to 1 this year. I think your missing the point. The average lifespan of a PS2 in general is that short. Its got nothing to do with the space between the 2 models. If anything, the slimline made things "worse" for faults because of how prone to heating it is. But both models were terrible machines for faults.Jackal wrote:What's the timespan between the release of the big PS2 and the new, small one? More like 4 years, not 6 months.
Turn down your exagerate-o-tron next time you want to have a serious discussion.
Ill say one last thing before I go...
Anybody remember the MASSIVE law suit against sony for all those PS2's breaking down?
As time went on, more and more drives began breaking down and a class action lawsuit was filed against Sony. They had the option of either paying the requested fines in damages, or offering free repair and replacements at their discretion. [6] Sony chose the latter and, until February 2005, they honored their agreement.
A second lawsuit is being filed against Sony for all of the above, plus claims that defective hardware is damaging media discs. The first hearings are set to commence in April and May, 2006. More information: PS2 Settlement
