You are in Ontario so do you think/know if I can get the station in Quebec, I'd really like to listen to Steirn. Is it a pay station?7zark7 wrote:I listen to Stern in the morning drive to work...Then CBC radio all day at work and on the drive home. When I turn on the TV and Watch the CBC. ( for corronation street) I mostly buy and watch movies.
Thanks
I get it from a buffalo station...(Commercial radio). ANd they wont let his satalite channel into Ontario... So soon it will be all CBC all the time.
I feel old all of a sudden.

Yeah, I believe we will only be able to listen to him over the Sirius satellite soon with his 500M$ contract for 5 years. But then it should be available to Canada. Isn’t that satellite supposed to cover the entire North America or they would filter it for a purpose? I don’t know what would be the big deal in doing so except maybe for the CRTC .

stern is not allowed on the sirrius canadian programming package that just came out. CRTC bullshit but hopefully he'll be on soon.
right now i'm on the usa programming. i had to make up an american address.
technically, sirrus is not allowed to sell american programming to canadians living in canada.

So all I have to do is "make up " an address? I dont get it...
Doesnt it require a mailing address? If not, pm me and let me know exactly what you did...I dont think I can handle life without Stern TBH.

Then are you saying that we have to buy a satellite radio from the USA and the ones from Canada are not programmed the same way to receive the signal, as in some cell phones that won’t work with a different cie?shadd_ wrote:stern is not allowed on the sirrius canadian programming package that just came out. before this month it was a grey area. the big outlets didn't sell them at all. they were widely available at the smaller independant stores. all i did was registered online, made up an addy, gave them my email and cc info.
i'm not %100 sure the ones legally being sold now can pick-up the american programming as well.
dark metal has one. he could get you setup i'm sure.

Thanks man. What is the cost of it though, is there different cie offering it or just Sirius and are there some basic programming like if you want only a few channels VS if you want them all and for the air time?shadd_ wrote:before this month it was a grey area. the big outlets didn't sell them at all. they were widely available at the smaller independant stores. all i did was registered online, made up an addy, gave them my email and cc info.

$14cnd for 180 channels(usa pkg). lots of worthless crap though.
the units can be had from $70 for the radar detector sized one, to $399 for the walkman style model(when the price drops a bit on this one i buy).
i got last years model. kinda big but i like the display compared to the smaller ones.
