That's just Resident Evil's way of doing things. And to be honest, rotational control like RE is a requirement for when the camera can shift angle instantly.
If it would use directional control, then you'd press right and the character would move right. If the camera would then jump to the opposite side of the character, your character would turn around and walk in the other direction. Effectivly, left and right would suddenly be turned around.
With rotational controls, this problem does not exist. Left is always left from the character's point of view, no matter from what angle you're looking at it.
not quite true though. devil may cry does this very well - it maintains the same direction he was going until you let go of the control stick, regardless of how many camera jumps there were;
and rook, just play it like you would a race game.. up == accell

Yeah, I seriously doubt Sony needed to give Capcom any incentives to port RE4 over. After all, the PS2 is the system with by far the largest user base...

tbh it has been AGES since I played 3. I must have been like 13. Eventually I'm going to replay them all on gamecube but that is no easy task.
lol, yea. I remember thinking 3 was incredibly shitty. But 1 was the fucking shit when it came out.
Yup, RE3 was definitely the worst. There wasn't much of a story, and it was more like a side quest for Jill than full blown games like the others in the series.
A lot of people prefer RE2 over RE1, but IMO RE2 was just a more polished version of RE1; it was never able to recapture the atmosphere of RE1 though (RE1 had much better settings).
I thought CV was at least as good, if not better, as RE1. What I really liked about CV was that it had a very good balance between exploration and action, although it did get predictable toward the end. Plus, it had a killer story.

*looks at all the xbox idiots*
The additional resistance provided by the analog stick of the Gamecube is better for aiming, whereas the PS2 controller feels too loose. You'll see this when you get it, esp. if you've played it on the Gamecube.
Never tried the GC controller , but that's one characteristic I liked about the N64 stick over the PS2 sticks. Plus I don't like the fact that the PS2 sticks seem to have built-in acceleration in all the games :icon8:
