Just watched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Post by Transient »

That was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
All these little things people say, or references people use all make sense now. Like 42 being the answer to everything, or "so long, and thanks for all the fish,", or Trillian's name. :icon26:

I've got to read some of the books. How many are there, anyway? Where should I start? Probably amazon.com, huh? :p

"What do you think??"
"...I think--"
*smack!*

I thought it was nothing like the original at all, and they changed the jokes and plot more than enough...

But I LOLed more than a few times while watching it and will buy it on DVD when its out, because I had a blast watching it. Great flick!

Book 1: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8&v=glance
Book 2: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8&v=glance
Book 3: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8&v=glance
Book 4: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8&v=glance

Edit: At least AFAIK, I've only read the first book, and that was a few years ago as well. I'll be getting this on DVD then. Tbh I'm not too bothered if it follows the plot/dialogue 100%, as long as it's a good movie, and a funny one too, I'm sold.

its a shame they dropped a large number of the original gags - but they are very english so you can understand why i guess

Man, I'm really looking forward to this movie. Read the books and it's just the best thing ever written ;) Funniest at least.

Here is a list of the books, but the list isn't complete. There is also Zaphod Plays it Safe and The Salmon of Doubt. You should be able to get one book with the five listed on his site and Zaphod Plays it Safe all in one. AFAIK, The Salmon of Doubt isn't in a collection yet. And I haven't read it yet :/
