My Gamecube don't wanna play games no more :( :( :(

Post by KingManULTRA »

(don't tell me to get an xbox please!)

I got a few weird clicking noises and tried to clean the lense. Now, it doesn't do anything. I don't get any error, just won't recognize a disk at all even with a cleaned lense.

Any help? Any sites I could visit with info?

I used pure alcohol and a qtip.

EDIT: actually scratch that, it says "Ooops! Multi purpose remover." Smells like alcholo though.

Melted the lense? You sure. I've used similar alcholo stuff on the PS2 lense before.

I though you only had to use a special CD with bristles on it to clean a lense.

Ok you've melted the plastic contact lense-esque part of the laser. Grats.

How can you be so sure that stuff melted the lense? Just curious. Gonna buy another one then :(

There is no reason to clean the lens with any cleaners, shouldn't be. Keep the lid closed and it should be relatively free from dust/lint or anything else. I used one of those 'cleaning cd's' with bristles on them like bitwise mentioned once on my psone, since then I haven't bothered, didn't need to really.

Oh so it can scratch the lense?

Fuck no..

Rubbing alcohol.. 90% or higher..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Didn't fix it. I noticed, though, that the oddly shaped plate in the gamecube (Note: the stuff that's white in this picture http://consolecase.com/v-web/gallery/al ... k_open.jpg ) can be pressed down a bit, as if it is too far up. Mmmm. Btw, is there supposed to be a tiny recangular hole in upper left corner of what's white in the picture?

The part that's white in that pic presses down on my GC too, and mine also has a small rectangular hole, but it plays fine.

The disc is not spinning at all it seems. The laser readjusts itself to about the middle of the railway (2x clicking noise) everytime and that's that.

I tried "tightening" the grip thing with push on it.
