About to start Jade Empire...

Post by xer0s »

Loved Neverwinter Nights. Loved Knights of the Old Republic. Bioware makes good shit, so I thought I'd give Jade Empire a shot. There has got to be some people here that have played this, so I'll take any tips I can get (open or closed fist, ect.)

It's not bad, but I grew a bit tired of it after 2 weeks. There is a LOT of conversation to read and listen to. But some fun mini-games. Make sure you learn how to pull of the harmonic combos. The instructions don't do shit to explain them.

Cool. Conversations usually don't bother me, as long as it has a good story.

2 weeks? Did you not finish it? I read it was a bit short. Something around 22 hours of gameplay.

It is quite short. It's good fun, but the endgame part takes about 5 hours, and you eventually get to that Unreal "is it over yet?" sort of state of mind.

It's about an 8/10.

Trust consoles to make even Bioware games seem short.

KOTOR (XBOX version) had about 60 hours of gameplay for me. I can't see how it would be a consoles fault.

It's a good game and all, but if you played other Bio games, it's starting to feel a little like the same ole recipe. If you haven't played the older ones then this will be a great game for most.

Yeah, bits of the plot are "reminiscent" of KOTOR.

I miss HK-47.

Yeah, but 30 of those hours are loading times :paranoid:

I am still only about 20 mins into KOTOR2, I must play it again. The first level is so utterly dull though and coupled with the dreadful animation of the main character, I turned it off and haven't played it since.

Have you guys gone Open or Closed Fist? I've been heading toward Closed. I think it's just more fun that way. Plus I seem to have quite a bit of silver. Are there any benefits to the Open?

Yeah, it saves on all your party members whining and moralizing at you.
