wow, they're apparently twice as big as the biggest tigerspecie (Siberian) cause they inherit a growth-promoting gene from the fatherlion and not the growth-inhibiting gene from the motherlion.

Reminds me of that cat-like race in Wing Commander, Kilrathi I think.
And of the Kzinti race in the Known Space stories of Larry Niven.

Ringworld is set in what Niven calls his Known Space universe.
He wrote many books about Known Space and their inhibitants. There's even a timeline with all the occurences.
