Jade Empire

Post by tnf »

So, I'm about 9 hours into it as of now.
It must have taken a LONG time to write all of these conversations and deal with the different conversation paths that there are.

I do like the inclusion of the old school top down shooter minigames with the flyer...nice way to mix gameplay styles up.

Just wish the graphics were better...

Anyone here finish this game? If so, I'd like to talk about some of the different styles and whether it is better to load up your skill in a couple or be more rounded...

I thought the gfx where one of the games strenghts hmmm... :paranoid:

Haven't played it yet, does it really compare to playing KOTOR or any other rpg, what game do you feel it resembles the most?

It has a lot of things in common with KOTOR in terms of conversations and the way you can choose things like intimidate, persuade, etc..during conversations. Your character's appearance, AFAIK, doesn't change based on your decisions, but they do move towards the light side (open palm) or dark side (closed fist) based on them.

The graphics aren't horrible by any means, but I see a lot of missed opportunity. Essentially, I wish they could have been comparable to a game like the new splinter cell.

They didn't make the game in wide screen format so I took it back.

the art direction was its strength, not really the GFX.

but yeah, its great. I took wu the lotus blossum, and got through most of the game with my maxed out legendary strike.

brilliant game i might add, very, very well constructed story. I love how everything just ties together.

Dunno...I just have it setup on teh xbox dashboard at 16:9 and enabled all the HD modes. When I start it up, the game automatically goes to 480p and fills the entire widescreen with no distortion.

Not yet, but considering it's from the guys that made kotor (which eventually made it's way to the pc) there is a good chance it will make it on the pc. If there is some sort of announcment about it sometime soon I will probably wait out and play it for the pc. :)

im not sure, Jade Empire was released as a first party game, by microsoft. Not lucas Arts who released KOTOR, however, saying that Fable is making its way to PC, so we shall see.

The game also has some pretty funny dialogue and readings. The list of indecencies suffered by Minister Sheng for one...heh. And when the guy was trying to woo Ai Li (I think that's her name...the head of that gang in Tien's landing) by referring to his skills as a cunning linguist. heh.

Odd about it going to 16:9 for you and not me. I have all the same settings with component cables for wide screen, plus 480p 780p and 1080i are all selected. All my other games play just fine in widescreen.

Maybe it's because my Xbox is a 1.0, or maybe it's because I hacked mine.

And so did Halo, eventually.
