Elder Scrolls 4 ingame footage :S
It will be many years... I'm sure games will tap into it in parts, and the eye toy will probably use it because its a fast, closed off scene, but dont expect ot be playing killzone 2 and have that kind of interaction. Not to that degree anyways.netrex wrote:That water thing is they sickest I've seenI thought that kind of stuff wouldn't come around for many years still.. The games that can come of this is just crazy =)
Both consoles have USB built it. The ps2 let you stick in ANY USB mouse and keyboard and play games with it.r3t wrote:something completely different: it occured to me that there are a good number of FPS games announced for both the Xbox360 and the ps3... but where are the mouse-like controllers? I STILL can't play an FPS with a controller, and the whole experience is ruined for me because of that. I tried to learn it, but just can't get the hang of it... Thoughts?
obviously, but the fact that water is now no longer a brush with a texture and shaders, but an actual "body of water" is quite amazing innit.o'dium wrote:
Its easy to put all this detail into a face when its just a FACE, but when its in a game world with loads more people onscreen and lots more going on, dont expect to be seeing this.
You forget that I've seen tech demos and used played this with in real time for a few years nowMKJ wrote:obviously, but the fact that water is now no longer a brush with a texture and shaders, but an actual "body of water" is quite amazing innit.o'dium wrote:

like all tech demo's, they arent to let us know what we'll be seeing in games, they just show us the possibilities and potential such an engine has.
for someone who claims to be (or desperatly wants to be) "in the biz", you really look at things totally wrongbut i still wub you anyways
Valve did that face trick with HL2.r3t wrote:This all reminds me of those NVidia techdemos for the GF1 and 2, showing per pixel lighting and fancy effects on fishes and animals and so on. And they "promised" we'd see those things in games very soon. But it took years before it actually popped up in games at all.
o'dium is right in that its easy to do one character's head with exceptional detail, but filling a complete scene with that amount of detail is something entirely different.
But they DID use that for HL2. Its not like HL2 had anything fancy going on, just simple lighting with complex face movement on a high poly mesh. Wow. Hl2's gman movies were ALL how the final game turned out. Every person in the game looked the same as that movie. Know why you didn't notice? Because while in the game, lighting was everywhere, not set up JUST for the persons face.Eraser wrote:Valve did that face trick with HL2.r3t wrote:This all reminds me of those NVidia techdemos for the GF1 and 2, showing per pixel lighting and fancy effects on fishes and animals and so on. They showed pics of the GMan's face's detail and acted like every face in the game was like that. In the end it turned out that the face was used for a minute or so in full close up for the introduction of the game.
