These 2 are great. Particularly renegade master, I always liked that.

I am not degradding anything at all, I just said I find it extremely tedious listening to people plap on about how much of a hard life they have it when they have food, clothes, water and a roof over their head.
Besides if they dont want to be fucked around by the police stop doing stuff thats illegal. A real man lives his life and takes the consequences of his actions in his stride. I am by no means a "clean" liver. I do the occasional drug here and there I copy stuff that I aint meant to copy I crack programs. If I get caught I aint going to write some tune pissing and moaning about how thw police are oppressing me.
Its like chris rock said. Theres a difference between a black man and a nigga. the word nigga isnt bound to any race, its a derogaratory remark which encompasses a persons lifestyle not what colour a persons skin is.
Some of my favuorite songs of all times are hip-hop and rap based
jurassic 5 - concrete schoolyard is a particular one and tey pretty much some up what I am talking about ina few lines
Cause we take it back like robbin loxly
Rockin from country sides to spots where hard rocks be
I often wonder if these MC's even know how it feels
To dedicate they whole life to this mic of steel
Its not about the bills
That's not keeping it real
A lot of tight rappers out here ain't got no deals
We appeal to the brothers with flow finesse
Cause it's the 100 watt blood shot game of death
Cause we're protected by the covenant of words and beats
Rewind and feel the heat
Recline and take a seat
So ah...
Chorus:
Let's take you back to the concrete streets
Original beats with real live mc's
Playground tactics
No rabbit in a hat tricks
Just that classic

I'm inclined to agree that all the fucking RnB and 'Ip Op' around now is an absolute disgrace to music.
*****, gunz, bitchez, hoes and drugz yo, ain't my idea of good lyrics.
And if it ain't about bitches and hoes, it's tedious crying and whining about being dumped. The double standard in most RnB artists songwriting is bothh pathetic and laughable.
Granted most chart song lyrics are shit. And of course it's each to their own. But the whole black music thing is about as stale as last weeks loaf of Hovis IMO.
Still, your post comdemns all modern music. Which is fucking ridiculous.
Absolutely not, I aint saying that all modern music sucks. There is always going to be a Beatles to a pink floyd (I hate the beatles by the way) or Jurassic 5 to a 50 cent or what have you. I dont choose to listen to music that is blasted out of the radio but I am entitled to express an opinion on which is all I was doing.
I amn't lambasting you for having Snap in your old school collection (even though I think its probably one of the most turgid examples of dance music I can think of) if you enjoy it then go for it, shake your ass to whatever makes you feel good. And thats where my final point comes in. The majority of these songs aren't written to make people feel good or to have a good time. They don't emphasize positive aspects about peoples life apart from how cool it is to be Gangsta, all they do is reflect how bitter they are about the world and its oppressive nature. Of course they do all this from their house, sipping their beers just before they go out to a friends house to go for a barbeque and a party getting driven around in their Merc or Bimmer. Hypocritical slightly, yes ?

You posted a thread entitled 'a bit old school' and posted old tracks. That's exactly what I gave you in response.
Next minute you're dribbling on about how RnB is crap and accuse me of liking Snap (watch your back from this point onwards, i'm genuinely offended).

youre a god damn idiot you know that? what are you even arguing about? and Jurassic 5 is terrible, that verse in particular. It looks like a Run DMC verse, you don't know the first thing about good lyricism.[FTF]Pyro wrote:Keep It Real wrote:you sound a bit jealous... how can you degrade a classic album just because you like different music[FTF]Pyro wrote: Getting so tired of the whole bling wars

I don't just listen to gangster rap, but the gay simple ass "we rock the mic and other rappers are wack" theme is corny as hell and just as generic as Lil Flip
You're absolutely right I dont know much about rap but I know a little about hip-hop from grandmaster flash to more modern day equivalents like run-dmc and the ilk.
but then you know that there is a difference between rap and hip-hop right..... ?
Dear Eric:
Historically, rap music comes from hip-hop culture. The roots of rap music trace back to the Jamaican ska era of the mid-60s. MCs rapping over party music made its way to New York a decade later, thanks to DJ Kool Herc, a man many crown the "Father of Hip Hop." Kool Herc emigrated from Jamaica to New York in 1967 and helped give birth to the hip-hop culture that would continue to thrive and spread.
The Hip Hop Network notes that while the Sugar Hill Gang's 1979 "Rapper's Delight" was the first breakthrough rap hit, it emerged from a "an inner-city phenomenon centering on DJs and including equal proportions of break dancing, MCing, and graffiti art."
More recently, "rap" has been used to describe the aggressive, mass-market produced music of Nas or Eminem. But, as one online encyclopedia points out, "Not all music that has rapping in it, however, is actually rap music, and not all hip-hop music has rapping in it." Artists like Jurassic 5 and De La Soul typify hip-hop music, which is generally more multi-instrumented and less in-your-face.
Rap and hip-hop music is now a huge industry, and it has the diversity of a huge industry. There's Christian rap, Latin rap, southern rap.
Dont get angry because I am better than you just accept it.....

I don't know why all that crap you posted is even fucking relevant to the conversation, it seems like you can't engage in some coherent discourse without posting some off the wall argument about bullshit that doesn't even matter[FTF]Pyro wrote:one online encyclopedia points out, "Not all music that has rapping in it, however, is actually rap music, and not all hip-hop music has rapping in it."
You can't argue with an online encylopedia
Hip hop is a culture, rap is something you do (battling, or written verses). Rap is the music of the hip hop culture. So all rap music is hip hop. If you want to be a nerdy little prick and label what you like hip hop than do it, Jay-Z is still your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.
The notion that nerd rap is more musical or uses more instruments is ridiculous. Just listen to some Timberland or Mannie Fresh beats and you'll hear sounds that you never even hear used in music.
