Just fired this up again (playing games on this new screen feels like playing them for teh first time...).
Anyhow, I've never been able to figure out how/when you actually have to sneak around in a town like it shows in the manual.
Also - regarding the land based battles when you attack towns...can you only attack certain towns? I want to attack poor settlements with only civilians, as well as the jesuit missions...
I really wish they would have put a multiplayer mode into this game. Would have been a blast....like an MMORPG type deal set in the Pirates atmosphere -
A few questions for those of you who have played Pirates...

One of my favorite games ever.
Yeah, you have to sneak into hostile towns and you can try to sneak out of prison sometimes. (But most of the time when you're in prison you're fucked anyways)
Yes, multiplayer would have been awesome.
They also could have added a layer of complexity for my taste. Sometimes the games just isn't rewarding enough.

I think one of the problems is, at its core, there just isn't a great variety of things to do in pirates...
basic duels, dancing, ship battles, trading...I also thought it was a bit silly that I would have to go fight the same pirate (i.e. Baron Ramunodo and the rest) numerous times. In one case, I beat Baron Ramundo to get info on my lost uncle or whatever, then go to another town, and have someone in the bar tell me taht Ramundo has informatnio on my lost sister and that he just left another town..
that's why I like this game in small doses, just enough that it doesn't get too repetitive..

I know, but why was it so insanely addictive when I played it?tnf wrote:I think one of the problems is, at its core, there just isn't a great variety of things to do in pirates...

Edit:
Port Royal had lots of stuff that I would've liked to see in Pirates, yet Pirates was infinitely more fun. Strange shit.
