I will only quote this. Thats all I really have to say:

"Electronic Arts Inc, the world's leading interactive entertainment company and Valve, the award-winning studio behind the blockbuster franchises Half-Life and Counter-Strike, today announced that the two companies have entered a multi-year agreement to deliver a collection of Valve games to players worldwide. The first two games to be released under this agreement are Half-Life 2: Game of the Year and Counter-Strike: Source for PC, both launching this fall. In addition, Half-Life 2 for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, currently in development at Valve and targeted for release in October, will be published and distributed worldwide by EA."

First they drop vivendi from pressing new brick & mortar copies. Then they go all out by themselves to sell HL2 via steam. EA must have seriously invested a ton of money in this seeing as Valve must of thought this would bring them more $$$ than solely selling via steam (w/ no middleman)...

No, they call their own game "game of the year", then slap a million of "GotY" stickers on it, include a bunch of "unreleased" maps which can be downloaded from a gazillion gaming websites as well and sell it for an additional 15 bucks over the normal edition.

This is true, they have the knack of taking a great game title and fucking it up somehow. I think their Sweatshop programming department has way too much to do so they produce shit. Or EA says "Fuck Tesing!! Just get this crap out so we can make some money."

You know, id suck because they release games for money. If EA made a game and put SKILL and TIME into it, I'm pretty sure it would fucking own. Think of how big a company it is, and how skilled they must all be by now.

Then again if it does suck they can just by a game that doesn't WOW.

i imagine valve came to realise they lost sales by not having hl2 on storeshelves.

hl2 goty will be bundled with lost coast?

I thought EA had a "no-blood" policy?
Quick enough to abandon ethics at the prospect of selling boatloads of HL2 GotY editions, aren't they?

I think you'll notice that money is the only reason to release games. There are very few companies that do it for "fun" and enjoyment of its userbase.

Nintendo still does it for "fun", and everybody hates what they do.

That's assuming that the MASSIVE turnover at EA allows them to keep any of their truly skilled people.
