Mack Starks

Post by Giraffe }{unter »

I reluctantly went to a place in Hoboken, NJ called The Goldhawk for The Writer's Hang. It's an evening they have the first Thursday of every month. It's run by a friend of a friend, and it's a relaxing night of drinking and listening to music. A very comfortable atmosphere in the back room (lounge) of this bar. Tons of comfy couches and big chairs.

This night is all about the music, you go you sit, when it's packed some people sit on the floor, and it's totally silent while the musicians are playing. It’s hard to believe in a world of savages this is possible.

One guy Mack Starks was amazing his voice was powerful if I had to compare it I would say it’s a cross between Ed Kowalczyk of Live and and Michael Stipe of REM. With nothing but a beat up Gibson acoustic he rocked the house with his awesome tunes.

He is one of those musicians you need to see live, his CD does not do him justice, he’s got music to download on his site and his First CD is available on iTunes. I picked up his new CD last night it’s good, but he is just so much better Live…

----There are 2 good songs on his main page under the pimp for his new CD

The streaming section of his site seems to be broken but these are the links that appear when you try to open the page.
