Insomnia

Post by glossy »

I've been up for 41 hours now (if my sleep-deprived maths serves true). Got up at 11am two days ago, couldn't sleep last night AT ALL, but i blamed it on some painkillers i took to help the pain from an ankle injury i sustained the other night. tonight, it's just turned 3am and none of my usual tricks are working. FUCK.

Usually I get mild insomnia and won't be able to sleep until 3-4am (later if i'm under unusual levels ofstress), but this is fucking ridiculous.

:(

share with me your tales to keep me company please

personally, i'd really prefer to stay off the drugs (uh, the tablet over-the-counter ones, anyway) since the majority of the time there's an easier way to actually fix the problem. (plus the painkillers is what i think started this, anyway)

well 40+ hours wihtout any sleep is'nt something to sneeze at. i fear the damage you may do to yourself far outweighs any minimal effects of taking something to help you get to sleep.

For six months, I couldn't sleep. With insomnia, nothing is real. Everything is far away. Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy.

And you obviously don't watch movies. Looks like I got someone else attached to me. :) Almost gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

take advantage of a crap situation by haveing a time.

reading profound literchure or specing a powerful movie has a deep freaky effect when highy overtired.

i like movies when im feverish heh.
white some tunes maybe.

or watch really crappy new movies with lots of swirly music

usually when it gets bad i have a wank, then a basic workout on my bedroom floor, sometimes a little meditation helps clear my head and helps me out.

two nights ago (where i didn't sleep at all), it was something shocking. I worked out until i was physically exhausted, but not tired... my 'body' was tired, but not sleepy tired just lay here and rest tired. my brain was still going though, which is why i spent a lot of the night alternating between posting here, coding php, and lying in bed trying to sleep.

last night i lay there for about 30 minutes i suppose, i finally got my mind to settle down and i slept semi-restfully. had lots of dreams though, which is wierd.

I find doing too much exercise right before bed can almost be a bad thing for sleeping...
Sounds like you've got some underlying issues - stress or something - going on at the same time since your sleep habits are all off aside from just the insomnia (the dreams..)

Any new stressors you can think of?

Sleeping is hard for me too. I can't fall asleep just laying in bed. I have to be tired before that, otherwise I'll be rolling around trying to sleep which makes me even more untired. I have to watch TV on my coutch and slowly doze off... Then I'll wake up at 4:00 AM and drift to my bed...

lots :), i'm still trying to get into a phychiatrist but the fact i have fuck-all money means it's difficult. hoping to see a council/community youth service person but easier said than done :\

i suppose most of my shit is the usual angsty teen stuff, it's just hard sorting everything out by myself.
