I've used Trillian for a while, not because messenger sucks but b/c I have many contacts that use AIM or ICQ only ect...
The problems he is talking about can be overcome very easy by tweaking msn around, I know what your thinking...and stop...
It's much easier to go another route while chatting, but by saying M$ is worthless b/c of one app they chose to configure the way they wanted it to be is just showing your ignorance once again dude.

1. Look at the space allocated to the main purpose of MSN messenger - online contacts and communication. Working with MSN messenger makes me feel like a gynaecologist, fixing a car from the exhaust pipe.
i've disabled all the shit
2. What the HECK is up with Winks and Nudges? For god's sake can we have a serious communication tool that is not designed for teenagers?
i've disabled them
3. That personal message alongwith "linking with winamp/itunes/wmp 10". First of all, I can't get that to work. Secondly, that damned thing will work when I am watching a porn movie at work.
mine works with foobar and nothing else
4. Here is a icing on the cake - it has some "router issue", which means you can't sign in from all networks :-) (starting 7.0). Okay so an IM program that I can't sign in with - Oh that just made a LOT of sense.
forward your ports, dipshit
5. Look at those "?" signs on the left. First of all, is that the best UI you could come up with? REALLY? Secondly, what is up with those "?" signs?
i turn tabs off
6. Look at that ugly "Action cancelled" sign down there. So MSN Messenger has loaded up an instance of IE? Oh this is just awesome !! Funny, that IE window shows a GIF image that says "MSN Messenger" or an advertisement.
blocked with msn plus! plugin
7. Here are features in MSN messenger that you almost never use - "The conversationer", "calendar sharing", "Greetings", "Whiteboard", "Remote Desktop", "App sharing" (Well the last 3 work awfully awful), ditto for all of the "Online Games", and don't forget "Backgrounds".
i agree with this, but i've hidden the formatting and action toolbars, so what i can't see won't bug me
Anyone hear of a plugin/addin architecture? Do I have to have a car, that can fly, and it can go to the moon, and it doubles up as a bicycle? C'mon - where are your application architects man !! AWFUL !!!
eh?
8. Okay how about - "Show alerts when only these contacts comes online".
msn plus! does this, you can even have contact specific sounds
9. How about "Stop pushing your products on me" (Search box?)
no arguement there
