Are YOU a good fighter?

Post by reefsurfer »

No bullshit talk like im "god" or something...

Do you belive that you are a good fighter?
By this i mean both physical and mentaly, would you kick a guy in the head when he is down? Are you fast? Do you hit hard etc etc.. ask yourself those questions before you answere.
How would you do in a street fight?

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

I'm a soft cunt, I'd much rather avoid confrontation. I'd probably be quite good in a fight however, because I have body mass and am strong. No technique though.

I'm probably not good at fighting, but everytime I've had reason to engage in fisticuffs with another gent, my opponent has backed down. I must be seriously intimidating. :icon31: Or maybe they just didn't want to get nerd juice all over their shirt, who knows. :icon32:

I'm decent - but it all really depends on who you are comparing yourself to. Know enough to get myself out of some situations, used to spar with a friend who taught me quite a bit, and have been trying to learn some Chin Na (joint manipulation - for grappling, etc.) Can punch pretty well with both hands - and know some cheap, cheap tactics. But I'm smart enough to know when to get the hell out of a situation.

I haven't really 'fought' for a long, long time though, and don't ever plan on doing it again. Going to start learning Krav maga this summer , though. Not because I plan on going out and using it, but because always am trying to learn something new.

And, to those questions -

I can hit hard enough (all a matter of technique), I am not afraid to kick, knee, bite, etc., if I had to either.

But again, it would take an awful lot at this point in my life to get me to do anything but walk away.

I'm an amateur MMA fighter, possibly fighting this summer at the roseland. So yes, I am a good fighter. I will ruin your shit.

In my experiance, don't take krav maga. They try and sell on you the israeli military shit, but they are selling you watered down crap that's not worth much.

Could be wrong though.

This is a pretty goofy topic, but anyways...
I can handle myself, but would always prefer not to fight unless I had no choice. I studied Moo Duk Kwan style Tae Kwan Do for a couple years, and got some more training in the Corps. I have a very fast left jab and quick feet, and my kicks are obviously far more powerful than punches.
One my my big regrets in my life is not pursuing martial arts more. I had a lot of potential, and I think I could have been competitive. It's one of the few things I was naturally good at, and as soon as I'm done with school I plan to start studying aikido.

I know an ankle lock and heelhook that involves figure-fouring around their leg. Is that what you mean?

@feedback

no no...the figure 4 leglock made famous by the nature boy rick flair. :p

By the way, there is a hold I used to use while dealing with drunks, but i can't remember the name of it. It would start with a simple armbar/arm lock- if they tried to pull forward with their bicep, I would let them, then slide my left hand over their arm, as their forearm came closer to their bicep I woudl have my left hand kind of wedged between the forearm and bicep, my right hand holding their wrist/hand. From this position, i could apply minimal pressure and create a lot of pain in the rotator cuff/elbow/wrist. If they really tried to fight it, or tried to throw a punch with the other hand, I could really rip on it and probably dislocate the elbow, tear the rotator. Alternatively, I could sweep their leg and drop them - again, because they were in a pretty compromised position. Any idea what the 'name' of that armlock is?

I can take a video of me throwing it on my wife and dropping her with it if need be. heh.
