USA - Holland

Post by Eraser »

We'll face each other in the finals of the women's football (soccer) world cup next Sunday.
No one here cares I guess (because ew, women) but it's actually quite entertaining and good football.

It's too bad the world will keep turning as soon as sports is over.

It's not that it's women's soccer that we don't watch it. It's because it's soccer.

Well, that penalty was sketchy. But the second goal was excellent.
A well deserved win.

Yep, too bad. The US team was too strong for the Dutch women. Gotta say I expected the US to trample over the Dutch right from the start but they managed to keep themselves in the game pretty well. It's like good ol' Lubach said: America first, the Netherlands second.

interesting that USA women's team owns but the men's team are pretty mediocre

england men's and women's team fall at the same hurdle: fourth place. not even a medal :( :olo:

Yeah, the US appears to be the only country in the world where women's soccer is more popular and taken more seriously than men's soccer.

That's because our men are chronic underachievers. Even when we have talent (rarely) they manage to blow it. For example: losing to Mexico in the gold cup final last night.

Canada too, but it has to do with the lack of competition more than anything. Give it a few more years and the parity will even out. Same thing has been happening in women's hockey. Canada and the US have always been in the gold medal game but this year both got beaten by the Finns.
