You know, as much flack as Peterson gets I just don't get it. I feel like someone got offended by his stance of freedom of speech and it's since spiraled into this weird thing where he's a racist women hating incel. I've listened to a few of his interviews and he seems to have a pretty educated view on a lot of subjects so I'm not sure where this is coming from as I actually agree with what he's saying. He regularly makes biblical lectures where the underlying theme is that the bible is the foundation of western ideals: democracy, glorious capitalism, freedom, and justice. He doesn't have the balls to criticize the bible or denounce western religion because he knows it's a key demographic of his cult following. I'd respect him more if he came out and said all religions are regressive and poisonous but that's never going to happen.

I've watched a lot of his online lectures and practically every interview and debate involving him because I was initially on his side when he was opposing the neo-liberal PC groupthink. The podcast guy is pretty one sided on his opinion, he completely takes Peterson's point about the far left being a problem out of context. I don't think he's saying equality of outcome is necessarily a bad thing but rather that enforcing equality of outcome in a draconian way is. I've heard him say this repeatedly that the middle ground between the far left and the far right is really where you want to be but no one discusses this because highlighting the extremes is where the media gets the most attention and he's correct. With the far right you get totalitarianism and the far left you get communism. Both ideas might be good on paper but they're terrible in practice. However that doesn't mean we should give up on equality of outcome or that people shouldn't have access to basic needs which is where these guys doing the podcast pretty much lose all credibility because they want to make it sound like Peterson is saying that's bad but he isn't, they're just putting words in his mouth.

That's sort of my point, this vocal minority is enacting policies in universities that explicitly limit what teachers and staff are allowed to say/use in terms of gender pronouns when referring to students. Basically limiting what a teacher is allowed to say. I think that's foolish and this is what Peterson is referring to when he's talking about this topic. That whole concept is from the extreme left and he's against it because it limits free speech. That isn't to say the left doesn't have a point but that you need to dial down how we as a society should enforce those values on other people. It's a pretty reasonable point of view.

My original point here was that I don't get the hate toward Peterson by a lot of people, especially the left. His shit gets taken out of context, a bunch of incels end up worshiping him because of this out of context bullshit and yeah, that video doesn't really change my opinion of him.
