UEFA WEURO 2017
UEFA WEURO 2017
I bet you're all hard-asses who are too good to watch a bunch of women play football, but I wonder, is anyone here following the European football championship for women? It's already some ways under way (the Dutch girls just got themselves a place in the quarter finals) but it's quite enjoyable. All of the presumptions of it being boring due to the quality of play of these women and their lack of strength compared to men is just nonsense IMO. They are excellent players and they aren't playing against men so there's no physical discrepancy at display here.
I'm not a football fan myself, never watch any of it other than big tournament matches (euro- or worldcup) but seeing this, it kind of surprised me that there's not more exposure for these ladies. Why is there more equality in sports like hockey, swimming or tennis than football?

who says people should take as much interest in women's football as they do in men's? ("equality") if people watch it, they watch it; if they don't, they don't. maybe when a female Leo Messi appears on the scene people might might take more notice. or not
i saw the highlights of england women caning scotland women 6-0 though. some good goals there

It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem. Here in Holland only the matches of the Dutch squad are broadcasted live. Even if you wanted to see other matches, you can't.
But yeah, for English folk it's a good opportunity to finally see England win a football match for once

I find women's football quite enjoyable to watch. Theres a local TV channel that broadcasts either a womens or mens team game which is about the lowest level you would find on television and I even watch that.

Thursday 20:45 CET (19:45 GMT, I think) the Dutch and English girls are facing off in the semi-finals. Prepare to be beaten by a bunch of cloggo's!

Re: UEFA WEURO 2017
English are a subset of Brits, no? Then it's technically still correct

Re: UEFA WEURO 2017
Nah, "British" implies multi-national when you're talking about a team. It'd be like calling the Dutch team "Euros" (instead of their proper title of Cloggo's!)
