I didn't know you had a micronation in Australia, it was just a little fun fact and a learning experience for me

It has been an exciting week for Prince Graeme I, the newly crowned "monarch" of a micronation in Australia.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-38964465

More than 45 years ago his father, Prince Leonard, claimed to have seceded the family farm amid a dispute with the government over wheat quotas.
He declared his 18,500-acre property, 500km (300 miles) north of Perth, its own country: the Principality of Hutt River.
It created its own tax system and laws, issued by a government of five ministers. It has its own currency, stamps and passports - 8,000 are held by "dual nationals" - and a population of about 30 people.

Yes, an interesting little tit bit about Australia. I remember when they seceded, was it that long ago!

I suppose, if I was in the area I'd pay their curious tourists tax and have my passport stamped.. Western Australia is a lovely place (apparently) and a visit there is on my 'bucket list'.

Mention of this was in the news the other day, changed Monarchs or something... Prince Len stepped down and his son took over the reigns.

Is the BBC the major news for you on your side of the pond? I was surprised to read about it on the BBC web, just being a nosy Parker as usual. You know how old people are,(grin)

In answer, yes and no (grin). It's related to our ABC which I take as gospel most of the time.
