Space Engineers - Anyone into it?

Post by Whiskey 7 »

Mentioned in the Minecraft topic but worthy on another topic.
Like Minecraft, this may well be the next big thing so I will ask "Anyone into it?" and wait years before actually getting into it myself :smirk:

Here are some videos from the other topic and posted by Memphis.

I then tried to use my personal jet pack to make it to a local asteroid. Never got there. I figure it's going to take a little time to master space

I played it a fair amount during 2015, but I haven't picked it up in the last few months. It really still kind of feels barebones, with no direction or strong goals in place. I had fun designing and making ships that could withstand the rigors of space travel, but there isn't really much to do with them once they're built.

^ I lost that on its 1st drive, left the handbrake off and it disappeared beyond a dune. Spent ages looking for it.

^Memphs landing, before we were eaten by spoders.

I've only been doing ship building so far. Wanna try PVP servers, user created content and pirate raids at some point, problem is I always think of a better way to build something >:E

It's not perfect either, the FPS element still needs a lot of work, a lot. The planets can be buggy but when you know what to look for you'll know how to avoid it, err, imo It could still use development, I really want to pressurise underground chambers and you can't but there's still plenty to do in the meantime. The issues in the game atm though seems to be from the new inclusions since Christmas so should continue to see them smoothed out.

I actually quit playing when planets were first introduced. My framerate took a shit whenever I was on a planet, so I decided to step away from the game for a good long while. This game is barely closed beta right now...

No wai, wait til you see my underground fully pressurised Mars base :D

The only performance issues that I have is that it makes my card toasty. Memph would be better to chime in on that though.
