House fires are a terrible thing.

I've been lucky in that it's never happened to me but two neighbours in past years have lost their houses :paranoid:

Everything possible that he could have done wrong, he did.

lmao, this guy is an idiot no doubt, but it's interesting seeing a detailed play by play of how some individually poor decisions escaladed to a full-on situation.

The first poor decision I saw was lighting a bag full of paper on fire inside your house. wtf? :tard:

It's a good example of why having a fire extinguisher in your house is a good idea.
In 5 minutes it goes from a manageable flame to "your house is fucked"

Being a home insurance inspector, I know it's not enough to just have one. Too many people don't know where they keep their extinguishers and wouldn't be able to find them when they needed them. Plus many of them have lost their pressure over the years and wouldn't do any good anyway. That false sense of security is dangerous, I think.

So what's the alternative? Not having fire extinguishers doesn't sound like a better plan to me.

the solution is, keep a fire extinguisher in an easily accessible place - mounted on a wall so it doesn't get "tidied away" - and understand that they have expiry dates and need to be replaced or checked every few years.

We've got a couple of small home-use ones that we keep up to date - one in the kitchen (with a fire blanket) and another in an upstairs cupboard
