True Detective Season 2

Post by xer0s »

Kinda hard to know what's going on, cause the episode is building the foundation for the season. But it's already got my interest...

It's only the first episode. How can anyone be rough on it yet?

the start of the show wasn't as strong as 1st season's, and not even sure if i even liked it. It's fair to note, if it wasn't for the credibility of 1st season, I probably wouldn't bother tuning in again next week.

It's no season 1. Colin Farell and Vince Vaughn don't have MM's chops.

Dark and cranky Rachel McAdams is a good Rachel McAdams. That said, it will stand or fall on the writing. Let's just hope they find their motherfuckin stride in subsequent episodes.

The first three episodes of the first season weren't the greatest, but I kept watching because Woody and Matthew were brilliant. Vince Vaughn on the other hand is a talentless piece of shit and will probably kill the show.

He wasn't the kind of guy to wear a vest. Not sure how he could live through that. Dead in the second episode? Ballsy...

He'll live...

That's whast I feared at first.

But he really nailed the conversation near the end of ep 1 between him an farrel. The starting monologue of ep 2 was fine as well.

He is dead. He will probably just be in flashbacks from now on.

so Season 1 was apparently in the "Southern Gothic" genre, whereas season 2 is going for "California Noir"

I've actually still to catch season 1 (it's on a large and ever-growing list) but interested in whether u lot think that article makes sense?
I'm a fan of connected or continuing series written in different styles/genres so if this is right it's probably up a slot or two on the watchlist!
