I don't mind that the movies don't try to explain every little detail and can appreciate some of the changes Peter Jackson made from the books. Both mediums are works of art and do Tolkien's world justice.

Yes, I enjoy the movies. The Eagles being the deus ex machina always annoyed me though. Seems like they should've explained it more in the extended cut.

I saw it in HFR...after about 5-10 minutes I adjusted to it and to me it seemed almost like a live action play. Once you get over the initial shock it was enjoyable. The clarity was phenomenal.

By argueing a plot hole isn't a plot hole, you kind of underline the fact that someone has a point when mentioning the plot hole. The only correct response is "who gives a fuck". Just enjoy the story, it's all make-belief anyway.

Having said that, in The Five Armies it looks like the dragon dies and two days later all sorts of armies appear from everywhere. It takes ages to get an army battle ready, let alone march it halfway across a continent.
