PS Plus has been around for ages already, so it's not new if that's what you were thinking.

Anyway, if you read the article all the way to the end, you'll find that it's more about blaming the rest of the industry (and mostly so, XBox Live Gold) for the poor standards that make PS Plus a relatively good thing. And it's true. XBox Live gold is pretty outrageous. The only reason I've still payed for it is online multiplayer and I think it's sad that we have to pay for that. My subscription actually ends next month and I've opted out of auto renewal simply because I don't play online all that much anymore either.

I have one for sale if you do; 80gig with 7 games. I give you nice price :)

I have not had a Xbox Live sub for years now, nor do I use my PS3 online unless I am downloading songs for SingStar or the occasional demo. But having free games every month as a PSPlus subscriber is a good thing for sure.

I don't mind paying 3 euro's a month for Live so that my account (and nickname) is ensured, server's are always up, matchmaking works, cloud storage etc.
I do mind that my dashboard is littered with ads even tho I am a paying customer. Ads that tend to slow down the dash even. f that noise.

I had PS+ for a month back when it came out and honestly felt like it was just trying to wrangle money of people. The PS3 still has terrible interfaces, terrible friend interaction, seemingly non-existent multiplayer, and the free/discounted swag was boring. Maybe its just the games I play on PS3, but I feel like I'm not even connected to the internet when I'm on it.

I think MS is turning Live into too much of a whore but I feel like it still has quality in all the places that matter. It is far more expansive and a huge part of the MS user platform. Sure, you don't usually get "free" shit but that isn't really the point of an online gaming platform. Paying monthly for rented games is for Gamefly.

I'm a PS+ subscriber and find it much more rewarding than I ever found an XBOX Live Gold account.

Cloud saves, automatic updates, free games (new ones at that; I got Motorstorm Apocalypse through Plus shortly after release), it's all good.

I also never had any major problems playing games online even before I was a subscriber, unlike detractors would have you believe.

But I also rarely touch my PS3 anymore. The generation gap is getting a little too large now and I'd much rather play games on PC.
