Right, so: I've had it with shit fuckin' twat ass touch-screen Android fucking pieces of shit phones. I'm tired of bullshit bloaty ass firmware and enough useless shit-hole apps to sink the fucking Titanic. Also I'm not terribly enthused with Google's new privacy shindig so I'm getting the hell out of their nest.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a solid phone with actual fucking buttons on it? I don't care about apps, at all. A browser would be nice, as would email, but I don't even think they make phones that don't do that shit now. I've been thinking of going Nokia, maybe Motorola but it seems like Motorola doesn't make much that isn't touch-screen now?

Also, if you say iphone I'm gunna find your house and burn it down.

I'm very happy with my Palm Pre 2. Besides, HP is making webOS open source by fall so there will be a lot of potential for new apps and features to run on the existing hardware.

What's wrong with Android phones? My Galaxy S2 is the best phone that I ever hard, by far.

Btw, you can use Titanium Backup to freeze or remove bloatware. I improved my battery life from 1.5 days to 3 days this way.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with Android, it's mostly the various vendors' implementation of it. I know I can root it and all that shit (which I did with my Motorola Droid, then the fuckin' screen died...) but.... I don't feel like I should have to. I'd like to move away from having to fuck around all the time and just have a basic phone. I don't use any social networks, I just browse Wikipedia and a few other sites and check my email. Android seems excessive for me.

HTC's are some of the best, if not the best constructed cellphones out there. they have a really good record on fixing issues and updating android OS's ...more than any other phone manufacturer out there...

Well I have to say mine is easily the shittiest Android phone I've ever had the misfortune of buying. HTC Desire is what I've got. The actual physical construction is fine. Light-weight, quite durable. I've dropped it a few times and never had an issue. I'm mostly finding faults in their firmware. Every time I update it all they seem to do is vastly alter the entire GUI and fail to fix core problems like erroneous text input, buggy core apps, etc. I feel like I'm fighting somebody when I'm using it

Have you actually tried using an iPhone, Windows Mobile or maybe even a high end Android? My point being that maybe you need to try a touchscreen that is actually good.

I wasn't really a fan of Android when I used it for a month and on bad hardware it is downright awful. My roommate loves his HTC with Windows Mobile and playing around with it seemed nice. I've sworn by the iPhone since the 3GS though. It was an amazing user experience then and it gets better every upgrade.

If I wanted a phone with buttons, I'd probably grab a Blackberry. My old 8100 was a great little phone but that was before the whole mobile web/app craze so I don't know how well the OS holds up in that area.

Bah, Blackberry is fucked. That was my first smart phone, I went through three of them in just over a year. They were nice back in the day but their time has come and gone. RIM was too slow to adapt, hence why the fucking founders of the company had to step down As I recall, the browser was a piece of shit, and the apps were mediocre at best.

Why did the screen die? Did you drop it, get it wet or otherwise cause that to happen? Did it just die on its own? Might have been a bum unit and therefore replaceable/fixable under warranty? What did you do about it? Did you chase up the warranty or just give up for some reason?

High-end Android would be flagship devices from the big manufacturers, at this point I'd restrict myself to just Samsung or HTC though.
