thx

http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthre ... aps-for-QLLevel design for QL is in essence the same as in Q3 besides a few complications. Since you've made maps for Q3 already, you're off to a good start. One of the main differences is the QL pk3 format - you've got to convert zip to QL encoded pk3 using Quake Live Decembler. It's a command prompt app so for convenience you should have the app and the zip file in the same directory, create a .txt file, put 'quakelivedec [filename].zip [filename].pk3' in it, save it, rename it to a .bat file and run it. You can also use it the opposite way around to do pk3zip.
There's a few more differences between Q3 and QL that makes mapping more complicated - QL support png textures and ogg sound files, Q3 supports wav sound files, but converting them means downloading software etc. so just try make maps with standard Q3 textures for the time being.
It's been done ... You not seen the premium maps out there?Eraser wrote:And then the most complicated bit: getting id Software to actually include your map in Quake Live.
Funny how delusional most mappers appear to be these days.
