PAL dvd on NTSC system

So I'm thinking of getting a PAL dvd, but I live in the U.S. and everything I have is on the NTSC system. Will the PAL dvd video not look very good on my tv even if i play it on a region free player or convert it to a region free format? Thanks in advance!

depends on your tv.
if your tv doesnt support the PAL format it might get jerky.

doh. i have a sony kdl 52v5100, which does not support PAL from what i can tell. do you know if laptop monitors support both formats generally speaking? i would really like to purchase a dvd set of games from the world cup 2002 from the UK and its in PAL
