Post by skinNCNmaster »

Here it is, first map ive made in four years. Nothing super special, but some interesting points of view and trick spots, and yes, the scheme is odd.. and so am I.

*missing textures under guns and flags.

*you are gonna have a nightmare aligning all those textures. ones that stuck out the most were the jps..

*the lighting is very uneven. pitch black in some areas, then almost eye bleedingly bright in others... maybe have a ambient light level of 4-8 tops? or just work on lighting in general, i dunno

*have to admit... i dont like all the colour. but thats just me. im sure others will love it.

have not played a match so dont know about the gameplay but im really digging the gamespaces!.

nice work so far man!
:D

So I played a bit.. Got to say some parts work out well and some dont. I see you thought over adding paths from the side of the bases - that would help I guess, atm the base's gameplay feels very linear and the room feels a bit too "long". Also wondered about the JPs near the flag - who would go up there for taking the few +5s if you loose thee health anyway when you drop down!? Next thing I noticed is the low area with the water. IMO that doesn't work out - it slows down as hell. For me it is boring to go down there even though there is the invis PU and the MH. You should remove some water there I think.

About the textures.. hmm imo it would be coolor to have a more visible color sheme, atm it looks all fancy and stuff - but maybe that's just me and my taste :)

Looking forward to the next changes!

Oh and yeah.. you wont be able to enter the competition with this map since the official start is in early june - just in case you didn't mind that and planned to enter this one.

I see you like colors, and patterns; and art; and stuff. This is a good thing. However, these are the worst screenshots I have ever seen. I'd rather play this with all white textures with lightmap shadows; I could then feel like I'm in some solid concrete structure, rather a fruit house.

Hey what happened to that gnarly volcanic map you were working on with the huge rope bridges and such?

I like this map! It reminds me of the old game Pandemonium for Playstation.

Maybe the two yellow armors are too close in base? Have you optimized it? The FPS is really low on my system (on the other hand, my system is 6 years old).
The two statues feel a little out of place.

EDIT: One thing that you could use for colourful maps is Adobe Kuler to check if the colours match. Google it. :)

Those transparent patches are kind of cool, but I can't say I'm a fan of the chaotic colour scheme of the textures in the map.

well im agreeing with you a bit.. and the best ting about tat is i can modify the jpgs outside the bsp.. so as long as the paths and geometry is good..

ive removed those patches.. they are heavy triangle makers when shaped like that.. if i want to d that effect i will only be affordable to do it with alpha textures to simulate stretch fabric..

Umm, I might. I will look around and see. If not on hdd, I may have it on cd or dvd somewhere. I have a couple dvd's stuffed with all the maps and Q3 web stuff I have collected since my time here.

looks good, a couple of issues

-you need to nopicmip the sprites/decals it was quite horrid looking at them in bad quality
-maybe a slightly colored fog
-indead of 'add'ing the crystals, why not alpha blend them from 1 color to another?
-you have textures which are not powers of 2, including your levelshot
-you included your texture folder twice

ps: you can delete your own post by clicking the X at the bottom of your post

thanks for the review D.

um at the bottom of my post... there is a ! mark only.. for reporting posts that get me upset. I've looked everywhere for the X..... cannot find it.. there is:
"Delete post: [ Once deleted the post cannot be recovered ]"

note- there is an X for the last post i made.. but none of the priors

which i only see available for the first half hour after the post i made..

Just to the left of the ! is an X. If you don't see it and/or can't get rid of them, tell me the posts of yours you would removed and I will help you out.

(Pssstt... Ummm.... that's the moderator controls, only Q3W staff see them. Also, that voice you hear... that's just in your head)

Normal members can delete messages by clicking on the edit button above their post. It may only work if it's the last post in the thread, I don't quite recall.
