Radiant and interesting realization....

Post by Castle »

Its highly possible that if Rage does not see the light of day then Radiant will only exist to fuel the Call Of Duty franchise. And if COD dies then so would radiant. At least as far as professional development on AAA tittles.

Will backspace never be used for deleting again? :(

Rage won't be using Radiant anyway. They are creating entirely new development tools called id Studio, which will encompass a Radiant-like editor with a whole lot of built-in tools from scripting to material shaders to pretty much everything else. It will probably have similar building techniques as current technologies.

That said, Quake Live will continue to see a fair amount of development with GtkRadiant.

I'm just curious if and how the mod community will deal with this new tech.
It's been said before how you now really need to team up with others to develop for current gen engines, can't do it on your own, unless you just want to crank out some cookie cutter map.
Creating all the assets that idtech5 utilizes from scratch seems like a very daunting task, indeed.
Still, I can't wait to make my first Rage box map :)

Just look how the community dealth with epics tech. It turns into the same direction...
Scene's getting more polarized, harder to make good looking levels - more people who thinks their levels are looking good but they aren't...
