Landmark/Benchmark ~ 20K Members on the board

Post by Whiskey 7 »

I was watching this in the last couple of days and it seems we've tripped over 20,000 members :smirk:

Wonder what they're up to

20k members and no birthdays today. Shouldn't there be like 50 something?

Lies, damned lies and statistics I recon

‘There are lies, damned lies - and statistics.’

Although sometimes attributed to Mark Twain – because it appears in his posthumously-published Autobiography (1924) – this should more properly be ascribed to Disraeli, as indeed Twain took trouble to do: his exact words being, ‘The remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics”.’

Well, out of that 20'000, i think there are only 200 Users, 8'000 Alts ( see LawL ) and 11700 people that signed up in '99 and never came back.. then the few stragglers downloaded quake 3 and asked how to get it working.

it's sad really :(

Interesting numbers the AmIdYfReAk  No doubt correct.

T'is sad I suppose but I :olo: when I think what they're missing here :paranoid:

And yes it is an interesting thought, that people still buy the game and as you said come here to get it working.

200 users? even that sounds too high, I was under the impression that there is about 40 regulars and that's very optimistic.

maybe we should have a shout out thread where everyone who is active posts and see how many posters we get within a week's time.

I just looked at the quake live nick name thread and there's just over 70 regulars ( not including the 20 or less post counters who were simply looking for an account hookup) and from those 70 I doubt half of them are "regulars"

Most of the LEM members don't visit GD. There are a few other stragglers in the other forums like Mac and Programming Discussions.

Funny you mention that obsidian.

I remember spending so much time in LEM that I didn't get to GD, and didn't dare stick my nose in The Void :olo:

Image to those in LEM and T&T.

My News Years resolution ~ to visit them more often :smirk:

Most of those are spam registrations. This place doesn't have CAPTCHA, so gets ton of automated registrations.
