Laser printers
I'm looking for a laser printer that has network capabilities.
I'm thinking about getting this one.
We have the non network model at work and it starts very fast.
But I wouldn't mind getting at least a 2in1 that also has network. Does anybody have a 2in1 laser printer and would you recommend it?

Excellent choice. Lexmark is the way to go for high voume. They're work horses. Using a 612 fer the past few years at the shop. Looks like it'll last fer a few more.

Re: Laser printers
i setup my office with a Brother Network laser printer... it lasted 5 years, printed out 120'000 sheets.. then the barrel ( heater ) burned out and they wanted $300 for a new one, when a whole new printer was $380

Re: Laser printers
Brother doesn't have any sense of style on their products.
Re: Laser printers
Or common fucking sense.

At NCIX the printer is $246. Was just at Grand & Toy tonight and they have the same model for $149 which I'll be picking up tomrrow.Peenyuh wrote:Excellent choice. Actually the one at work is I believe is the E350D that has an LCD screen which I don't need.
Re: Laser printers
lexmark can fuck off... but that's just my jilted opinion.
I own a c530dn color laser and it is the first and last lexmark i'll ever buy, and that of course means i'm so unhappy with it I tell everyone to avoid lexmark.
if you're interested the anger comes from them engineering their color lasers to eat toner... thus eat my money.

Re: Laser printers
afaik, color laser is still pretty emergent technology, so you may not be happy with any color laser product, watson. Most people in IT are happy with the 8 lexmark b&w and 2 color lasers in the company.

Re: Laser printers
Full color reports are fer sissies anyway.

Re: Laser printers
Plus I'm getting this one, so I can get toners from work at 30% off.
And I really don't care for a colour laser printer.

hah... let me know if this is from color laser being an "emergent technology":Underpants? wrote:afaik, color laser is still pretty emergent technology, so you may not be happy with any color laser product, watson. Most people in IT are happy with the 8 lexmark b&w and 2 color lasers in the company.
The printer was engineered so that even when printing pure black and white it still runs the page through the color cartridges, wasting color toner, and shortening the life of the fusers. So even if you're not printing color, you're still paying for color printing.
That is just wasteful, dishonest, and greedy engineering to sell more toner, and its something you don't find out until it's too late to get rid of the printer.

how many business reports do you print on your home printer?Peenyuh wrote:Full color reports are fer sissies anyway.

I Don't print reports on my home printer. I print reports at the shop. And not color ones. 'Cause they're fer sissies.Dr_Watson wrote:how many business reports do you print on your home printer?Peenyuh wrote:Full color reports are fer sissies anyway.

Re: Laser printers
well... this is my home printer we're talking about.
Re: Laser printers
Oh. My bad. I saw the printer and assumed it was fer work. If it's fer home use, it just may be the last printer you ever have to buy. I bet it'll last a long, long time.

Re: Laser printers
Was at Grand & Toy and they had the printer there for $149.99. From a label on the box, it looks like someone ordered it, but never picked it up. That was from January, so they wanted to get rid of it. Saved me $100 so I can't complain.

I've been running this at home for a while now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6828113212
No complaints, nothing special, it just plain works
