OT: Adobe & Macromedia

I was wondering what your opinions are on the acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe.

Personally, I think it turns Adobe into something like Microsoft. On the other hand, if someone comes with something like the MM suite they'd probably do well off the backlash, IMO.

At least you'll be using exactly the same DRM instead of the same but different versions ;-)

The real danger now is an m$ or Sony could now buy Adobe and pretty much corner the publishing/web market and turn the product into PC only, just as Apple did with Emagic turning Logic into Mac only. Unless Apple get there first of course, although I doubt they have the cash for such a bid. I'd bet there's gonna be a few sleepless nights over this at Quark too.
