Canadians....abo0t the other election coming this year...
...if Harper wins I'm moving back to Denmark.
The man is a carbon-copy of the type of "conservatism" that Newt Gingrich wanted to bring to America...and we all know how that turned out. Harper is claiming the same things as Gingrich (and the rest of the GOP) were saying back in 1994: parliament "doesn't work anymore", "we need a majority to break a deadlock with the opposition on several issues", more military spending, anti-social diplomacy and a whack of other right-wing nonsense and fear mongering that will benefit him, his cronies and Alberta while the rest of Canada can fuck off. There is nothing in his rhetoric from the last two years that indicates anything other than Dubya's attitude of "it's my way or the highway".
The latest polls indicate the Progressives could possibly win a majority in October...but those polls have been centred on Canada's "upper class" and what they think...rather than Joe Canadian.
It's happening here my fellow Canucks...slowly...right before your eyes. Don't let Canada go down the same road those stupid fucking yanks have gone.

I guess the only positive thing you can say abo0t Stephen Harper is that he isn't a lawyer.Massive Quasars wrote:I should follow up on my canuck news more closely. Troglodyte majority gives me pause.
Other than that I say we roll him up in a carpet and throw him off a bridge.

I wasn't talking about Swedes or Norwegians...I was talking about the ditchpigs walking in England versus the porn stars walking in Denmark.Doombrain wrote:A, i can and B, both the Swedes and Norwegian are better looking.GONNAFISTYA wrote: Seriously though...you simply cannot compare British women with Danish women.

With regards to the photos the sign is indicating that you need tickets or a wristband to get on rides, that if you still have some control of your legs and arms you can get on the rides but if you're a drooling, dress-wearing spastic who needs gloves and a hockey helmet then you can't get on the rides...and that your phone's camera sucks ass.

lol
The Conservatives have a "war room" for this election. If this doesn't tell you what you need to know about the Conservative's plan to follow the American path of the last 8 years than nothing will.
Tory 'war room' gets rocky debut

They have a press conference to do nothing but bash Liberals...and nobody shows up. That's a good sign.
"Conservative ideals" my ass. Canada as a country does not lean to the right. It's centre...but left of centre. The Conservatives do not represent Canadian ideals...they represent American ideals. The only people who will vote Conservative this election are doing so out of self-interest or to spite the Liberal party. At any rate it's a dumb motivation in an election but hey...this is par for the course when it comes to right-wingers.

Tory 'war room' gets rocky debut
The federal Conservatives finally got to use their high-tech war room in an election campaign on Monday after the party officially opened the sprawling Ottawa facility in April of last year.
Two cabinet members, Jason Kenney and Lawrence Cannon, summoned reporters to the war room early Monday for a press conference to release the latest in a long series of ads attacking Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion.
The pre-dawn media sessions are an attempt by the Conservatives to get a jump on the opposition and control the daily news cycle, but Monday's session didn't work quite as planned, the CBC's James Fitz-Morris reported.
Only two media outlets, CanWest and the CBC, were present, and the journalists attending peppered the two candidates with questions on gas prices, tax policy and reports of the party attempting to prevent some of its candidates from talking to the media.

Once again the right-wingers (just like the ones in America) put more stock in appearances and perception rather than substance. There's no other reason why they'd be so adamant to "control the daily news cycle".The Tory facility, located in an industrial park on the outskirts of Ottawa, is far away from media offices in the capital, but is kitted out with high-tech communications gear and its own state-of-the-art television studio.

You'd have to be a special kind of moron to expect journalists to show up at a 'pre-dawn meeting' on a fucking monday

Won't be too bad unless they get a majority, and even then the "Reform"-wing will be hard pressed to push through social conservative bills with PCers in their tent.
Harper has surprised me once or twice though, like for instance, sucking Quebecock on the "nation" definition.

Time to renew my NDP card.

...which would make me one of like four in Alberta. I wonder if I'll have to stand for election?

Re: Canadians....abo0t the other election coming this year...
Getting the majority is the whole point of this election. They know they have a good chance of grabbing real power (and real credibility as a party) so that's why the election was called. Like the nutters in the US, these people aren't stupid...and that's why they're dangerous.Massive Quasars wrote:Won't be too bad unless they get a majority, and even then the "Reform"-wing will be hard pressed to push through social conservative bills with PCers in their tent.

I have a good feeling that even if they won the majority that if they tried some crazy shit they'd be out on the street in a matter of months but - the reason they're dangerous - they'll keep coming back, muddying the debate and trying to buy power through corporate connections election after election (essentially like lobbyists). They'll attempt to "control the daily news cycle"...hell they already have a tv studio. When's the first fake propaganda "news reports" gonna start showing up? Fair and Balanced anyone? FFS...right now they're trying to sway the major media in Canada to not allow the Green Party to the debates...and they'll probably get what they want if they threaten to boycott the debates. They are every bit the relentless arm-twisters as Cheney, Rumsfeld and any mafia don and - if given the chance - will eventually scare more Canadians into voting for them....especially the far-too-many of Canada's authoritarian followers such as members of my family.
My whole point is that people like him shouldn't come close to power in this country, let alone get elected to it...a second time no less. Canada should say to his party - like we pretty much have to the Rhinoceros party - "Your ideas are stupid...go away." I fear that Canadians are almost as aloof about what's happening in Ottawa as the hillbillies in Arkansas and that's why Harper will win. The only way he - and any other person like him - will get power is by promising the people riches, convincing them their government's broken and scaring them with doomsday scenarios in terms of economic or nukeyooler concerns (them damned Ayrabs). It's always the same excuses with those fagg0ts, no matter what country they're in. The real danger is that he could start a snowball that will move this country in a different direction.
Canada doesn't need changing, it needs organized, responsible leadership.

Looks like I'll be moving back to Europe.
Tories on brink of majority despite bad press

All the bad press. All the bad news and every indication of the potential of taking the country over a cliff...yet Harper will be the next Preside....uh...Prime Minister of Canada. Way to go Canada...you've managed to turn your elections into the American style of moronics over common sense. Fuck you, Canada. You dumb fucks.
Tories on brink of majority despite bad press
Branding. Branding. Branding. That's all these fuckers think about is appearances and turning governments into businesses....then selling those businesses to foreign people. And Canadians being the ignorant fucks they are think it's a great idea. My parents also said they're voting for him because "he seems like a nice guy." I told them everything evil I know about him and the people he associates with. They just said,"he seems like a nice guy." These people actually think they're voting for an individual instead of an entire party full of morons like Harper.Anderson said the poll results suggest Harper's efforts to rebrand himself and his party as moderate have paid off - at least so far.
"They've repositioned the party as a party of the centre or as a party that wants to govern from the centre . . . and they've repositioned Stephen Harper less as a firebrand ideologue and more as a decent, thoughtful, competent everyman."
....He's jettisoned the "uber-partisan, no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners, make-no-apologies" approach in favour of quickly admitting mistakes and apologizing for them, Anderson said.
