Thats all well and good, but... Where are my FUN games...?
I mean, we have Metroid, which looks like a big mess of pixels. We have Smash Bros which looks good, but honestly I was never a fan of. We have... erm... Paper Marion, which still isn't out in the UK... Erm... Help... Mario Galaxy! Which TBH doesn't interest me because its moving away from what made Mario 64 so damn good in the first place... Erm...
I'm stuck...
The point is, back in the day, the SNES was a monster. I could find anybody with any taste, and I bet you I could find at least a handful of games that they liked. With the Wii, it all seems a bit... Blah...
Mario Galaxy looks stupid, Smash Bros isn't my kind of game, Metroid looks awesome, to bad I cant tell what the fuck is going on in pics because its so ugly, and Paper Mario is gonna rock but it should of been out 3 months ago, instead we have to wait until september...
In honesty, I've found myself using the Wii JUST for Wii Sports and VC games. Thats all...?
Where has the Nintendo magic that I loved so much gone...? I used ot wake up at 6am so I could play Donkey Kong Country 2 before school, just so I could find a few extra DK coins? But I couldn't even bring myself to FINISH Zelda on the Wii...?
I got bored with a Zelda game...? And this coming from a guy who completed Zelda 1 and 2 on the Nes, thats saying something...
It all seems a bit stale... Same old shit, only now you have to flap your arms like a tit... Where are the god solid platformers?
I honestly refuse to believe nobody at Nintendo has sat down and thought about making a really good platformer on the Wii. Its what Ninty do best, they pretty much invented the term "Side Scroller"...
Stop making half assed 3d games with awful controls and give me a damn find platformer... Christ the only reason Paper Mario Wii is so good is because it works like a platformer.
Case in point, Sonic. Every Sonic game bar one has fucking SUCKED these past 5 years. That one? Well what do you know, it was a platformer. Sonic Rush.
Just because you have the power to go into 3D, it doesn't mean you should...

I'm sorry, but the Wii is a fad. Its a gold mine, but its a fad.Eraser wrote:Yes o'dium, about 53 billion US dollars speak out against you and your opinion.
In 3 years time, when games look stunning AND they have motion control on both the 360 and PS3, what will the Wii be doing?
Honestly, the wii is a great idea, but it wont be here much longer. It was already out dated when it launched. Kids these days pick up the box, look for the shiny shiny, and decide what they want.
Seriously, the Wii 2 will be out in less than 4 years time. Mark my words.
As for the money, oh come off it, the PSP is a piece of dog shit. Ask anybody and they will just laugh in your face. Its also the second best seller in the world of consoles. Money speaks, but it doesn't mean they are giving you a clear message.
however I do know you are only going off on one at me because its Nintendo, so I will cut you some slack. But the simple truth is the Wii needs to get some games, otherwise this miracle they have pulled of that tiny hat they have will be wasted.
point being is, wii was the first to mass market something like that, sure the rest will follow suit just to please pop culture, but the originality started with the wii, and they got rewarded for it... hopefully they will keep leading with innovations while the giants are too busy analyzing sales figures.o'dium wrote:I'm sorry, but the Wii is a fad. This "thought out" rant does nothing but prove that you missed the point of the Wii entirely.o'dium wrote:[start rant]

The Wii is NEXT GEN GAMING. It offers a COMPLETELY NEW WAY TO PLAY GAMES. It should be expected that it will take at least one product cycle for developers to get used to the system (and exploit it to get the most out of it).
After all your comments on the games you didn't like (and the reasons for it) I still get the feeling that you probably don't think the Wii is next-gen because "the graphics aren't as good as 360". :icon26:
Perhaps the Wii 2 will have better graphics so that morons who judge "next-gen" by pixel shaders can finally shut the fuck up.

Are you retarted? The Wii has a new control scheme, completely different from before and with tons of possibilities. You really expect a brimming catalog half a year after launch? Especially since publishers are still hesitant to go all out on wii games. The Wii is selling good now, because of the novelty, and if the good sales continue, more games will come. WiiWare is going to be anounced btw, sort of XBLA for the wii it seems.odium

Ow didn't read the whole of your comment - I agree on that. I'm all for that, there should be way more 2d platformers, shooters n shit. I'm hoping that will come in some time, at least geometry wars and guilty gear coming for the wii, maybe more?
Anyway, I'm just guessing with the sales of the Wii, publishers will hop on board in due time. They're slow as it is, but eventually they'll have to come as the succes continues.
Also I really like the simple games like Brain Training, the prospect of language learning games, fitness games, n music games. There's lot's going on for those type of games.

So far all of the games I've played on the Wii that were any fun are party games (Mario Party) and the sports games (namely Wii Sports and Super Swing Golf). Generally these games are most fun when playing with friends. Having said that, the vast majority of the games I enjoy (and I'm just speaking for myself here) are games I can sit down and chill with for an hour or so in the evening.
Now one area I think the Wii could kill in is the virtual console. Now that they've opened it up to developers we could see entirely new but still cost-effective 2d games that we all know and love (ie: a new 2d Metroid). If they push this heavily I think the lack of content on the console itself could be mitigated by a huge influx of classic style games.

and whining about graphics on a nintendo system? really? they've *always* had cartoony graphics and seem to be quite happy with that. they make games that look like games. if you need to see lara croft's tits jiggle with photorealistic lighting or have authentic pit demons skull fuck each other, go elsewhere. who honestly cares how many billions of polygons the newest rendering of mario&luigi has?

You know what pisses me off...
Its the fact that I bought Resident Evil 4 this week for Wii, even though I beat it way to many times on the Cube two years ago... But it still rocks me.
But its still just another game that I played before with Wii controls
At least now I get to play Ada's mission, woo!
