Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Such a nice game it is :icon14:
They tweaked the legends engine now it runs smooth as silk. And it's awesome playing the original levels where Lara was up against nature and the emphasis was on isolation.
Good times

The ambient sound is incredible. Really creates a mood of isolation and large-scale exploration. As well, the classic ditty for finding secrets is back
The music is remastered and recomposed in some parts, and brand new in others. Hard to tell from the demo though.
Oh and the main title is the same classic tune, just better.

Complete bag of bollocks that they never made this for 360... Total shame.
I heard that the reason behind it, however gay it is (like I said, i read it on the interwebs) was that if they released it for 360, they would need to do one for PS3 (Because they al fully behind PS3), and they cant afford to do that, because the PS3 isn't selling. So they just skipped next gen.
Bloody shame, I really wanted this for 360... Meh...

Yeah, but EA have money to just throw away, and they know people will buy the god father on anything.MKJ wrote:on the other hand. stranger things have happened. e.g. godfather port for 360
Tomb Raidre, as a whole, was good, but not amazing in sales. It just did "ok", it wasn't an over night mega hit. So a smaller company like Eidos need to think a little more. So its very possible that with the PS2 and PC versions being better sellers than the 360 on Legend, they just saved the development costs and produced a better game, for a smaller target base. (Thats why its so smoother and nice looking for PS2, yet Legend wasn't that nice a game).
Its such a shame. I can only hope they are working on a real next gen game for 360/PS3 and its coming later. The only real problems with Legend on next gen were the models looked awful compared to the game world, and the frame rate of the 360 version. Everything else was spot on.

I thought they were doing a PSP version eventually too.Captain Mazda wrote:PC, PS2, Wii
The menu track was AMAZING. They've done a remix of the menu one which is very interesting, but I'll let you decide which you prefer as the new one is playing on the official site along with a few others (I especially like the Egypt Combat one). Basically they've done a half and half thing as for in-game music. Most of the time you still have basic ambience, but for combat and certain events you get some "orchestral" stuff too.-SKID- wrote:For the love of god, tell me they kept the same music from the first one, and didnt replace it. Thats one big thing that made the game so good.
Anyhow, I've played the demo through a few times myself, and it's pretty damn good. Okay, so graphics aren't "next-gen", but textures are still fair quality and they have added some nifty effects in there too. Not to mention I believe the minimum system spec is a slightly lower than Doom 3's. Game play is great... I hardly got to touch Legend, but I hear the controls are practically the same. Regardless, they are fluid and fast paced, and whilst controlling the camera may seem a bit of a pain at first it isn't hard to understand that direction keys are relative to the camera not the player model, which 9 times out of 10 is more useful than having the camera stuck behind the player all the time. They've added a "manual grab" option for hardcore players who prefer to use their own grab key operating like the original rather than have the game automatically grab for them. Combat is somewhat more diverse than the original game too.
I know for a fact that that isn't true.o'dium wrote:Complete bag of bollocks that they never made this for 360... Total shame.

I've been looking forward to this game (again).
What the hell is "next gen", anyway. The stuff that they first said were next gen are now current gen. So is this stuff next next gen or next next next gen or what?
Stupid buzzwords mean absolute jack...
